When I was 12 I started listening to Too $hort and I haven't stopped since. His Oakland shit was way funkier than anything he's made since heading to Atlanta and I will always long for his team ups with Ant Banks but for now let's just sit on back and reminisce. Wildstyle Tribe Announces Spring Of Moombahton Competition

This morning John Monsoon, the man known as Lightning Eyez, formally announced via social networking platforms that this year's Spring Of Moombahton compilation will be comprised of contest entires hand selected by the moombahtonistas of old.  Of the eleven prospective tracks three of them will be voted on by fans via soundcloud and the remaining eight will be picked by folks like Dee Jay Umb (Generation Bass), Neil Queen-Jones (Vamos Promo), Marcus Dowling (Moombahton.com), and 4 more mystery judges.  La Primavera Del Moombahton will be released on the Summer Solstice (June 20th) with entries due by May 1st; voting will happen the first two weeks of May.  More information about the contest, including cover art submissions, is available HERE so if you're a producer, graphic designer, DJ, or just plain old bad ass, get with it.  ¡Dale!

Monday Newness

why dey call you new-new?

Guess what?  It's Monday which means I gotta go back to work.  For those of you who don't realize this, I don't do anything on the weekends.  The weekend is for reading comics, catching up on TV, hanging with the fam, and raging.  That's why everything I post gets done Mon - Fri; now some of you may frown upon that and say, "Ted, new shit hits on Saturday and Sunday man!  Don't sleep on it!"  So to those of you who think along those lines I say, Fuck You.  I need my weekends to relax and the world ain't gonna stop just because I take some time for myself to catch up on my pull list.  So anyways, let's end this rant with a nice selection of some new tunes to get the week started off right!

I know I'm laggin' on this Sazon Booya but since it's still sitting on my favs and hasn't been throw on the site yet I say, "better late then never!" Most folks are late to this moombah party anyway so fuck it.

As of posting there are 9 downloads remaining on this re-working of the George Llanes Jr. classic so y'all better hustle up and get one! It's coming on 12" soon enough for you "real" DJs out there.

This DOSLOBOS jam is coming straight off Ninthwave Records' Moombahton Nation II release which hit beatport TODAY.  Face it, you don't have anything better to spend your $13 on.

And here's the latest from SD moombah-maestro babySTEPS. He was amped that I posted his Otra Noche remix last week so I thought I'd give him a little more love for his efforts.

The cats over at Deadly Vipers have been pushing a lot of fire in my direction lately and this moombah-stomp track is no exception. When it hits the 0:53 mark get ready to grab your head in disbelief.

Suprise! More heat from Phoenix; Riot Earp's Honey EP is a pleasant surprise. Although I expect nothing less from this dude, it's always nice when someone exceeds all expectations.

Thank you to Neki Stranac for bringing the South American vibes to the party. This track should be enough to get that older looking couple out on the dance floor with it's straight samba feel. Hopefully they'll pull some of the cuter young chicks on the floor in solidarity with their lack of giving a fuck about what others think of their amazing skill set. I had more to say but I feel like shutting up now and getting to work already. Have a most excellent Monday and enjoy all these new tunes!

Love Isn't Always On Time

Well it sure ain't Toto, this time it's ETC!ETC! and J-Trick asking you to "Hold Tha Line".  It's their latest free single with support from Mad Decent and it's a moombah ride you won't wanna get off.  Saw this aussie cat at Muevelo a couple weeks back and what can I say, totally laid back cool cat with his shit together; he destroyed to place once he took the decks.  As far as ETC! is concerned, I think viewers of this page have a good idea about his credentials.  So enjoy this sucker and pick it up over at either of their Facebook pages just for being a fan, how kind.

D-V3KZ Sweatin' All Over The Place

This is some seriously heavy stuff right here.  The boys over at Deadly Vipers were kind enough to pass this along, it's D-V3KZ's latest EP featuring remixes from LA Yaute, ST!CKEE, and Audiotek and it's just the sort of thing to get us out of bed in the morning.  The full release hits digital outlets tomorrow but check out the previews below.  I'm somewhat partial to the big bass line of the Audiotek remix myself but don't let my bias sway you against the other versions; what the hell does my opinion matter to you anyway??  I'm just some dude with a laptop throwing tracks to the world.
