it's Friday...let's cool off a bit

The best way to kick off any weekend is with a little smooth music to get you through those last few hours of grinding.  So sit back, relax and start thinking about tonight's misadventures y'all.  Have a blessed and safe weekend and we'll see ya Monday.

That Long Weekend Feeling

As stated earlier I'm heading to San Diego tomorrow to cover Comic-Con for GoRadio so I wanted to jump on my mixtape blog today to get in the mood and possibly pick up a few mixes for my (and hopefully some of your) trip!  So many tapes, they've been falling like rain over the last few days and since I missed last week I've got some pilling up in my soundcloud favorites.  Fresh mixes from A-Trak, Crookers, Pipes, and many more so let's get to 'em!!

Ok that's it!!!  Now I'm seriously going outta town so if you need me tweet me, send me a facebook message, or some soundcloud hate mail if you wish but there probably won't be any more posts till next Monday folks!!  That is unless something amazing happens which in all likelihood could be the case buuuuuuuut don't plan on it!  Have a great rest of your week y'all!!

Friday! Friday! Friday!

Man...you people don't even know how lucky you are.  I'm sitting here, on vacation, with a glass of beer in my hand and all I can think about is how necessary it is to my life to get my weekly mixtape blog done.  Wait a minute, maybe it's not you that has a problem it's me...too much vacation??  Is it weird to say I'll be glad to go back to work on Monday?  How likely is it that come Monday afternoon I'll wish I was back on vacation?  I'd say it's a 100% chance...in that case, let's quit the talking and get on to the mixtapes y'all!!  After all, it's Friday, that means it's time to party.

That's it dudes and dudettes...since this is my first mixtape post in 3 weeks I'm reaching into the past and pulling old tapes out for you cause you may or may not have heard them.  That's gonna be it for the week but I promise to be back here bright and early Monday bringing you the newest of the new and the heaviest of the heavy.  Also, June is shaping up to be a great month down on the blog so stay tuned for big and great things to come.  Make sure to check us out on facebook, twitter, soundcloud, and now MIXCLOUD for more amazing things!

Midweek Mayhem

It's about that time again ladies and gents, for this week's midweek soundcloud pull.  Today we've got a bunch of freebies for ya including a new E.L.M.O. remix all clubbed up, an extra track from this weeks WMC release, and of course some zany shit I've been digging on.  ¡DALE!

This track comes from the Cassette Blog exclusive release of Dixone's El Jaguar EP.

And here we have yet another soulful flip by one of our favs here at MTH, King Kong!

Valentino Khan with a giveaway track for all his lovely fans this week, how kind.

Here is the aforementioned "Philly Club Music" remix of big man David Heartbreak.

And this is a little diddy, RiotEarp with some footwork knowledge for us.

Mendez and the El Cuco camp dropping off another free track for the masses.

A nice smooth little down tempo gem from Sabo, from Wool's The Good In You EP.

Zee Reach again coming at us with the crazy french inspired latin flavor, dig it.

This track comes off Jon Kwest's Winter Of Moombahton compilation, a great crowd mover from Lithuania's finest Boyfriend who teamed up with Jamaican Krinjah.

Lastly but certainly not least is a banging track from Vegas DJ's Teen Wolf and Shelco Garcia.  The title is fitting considering tonight in Miami is the WMC Moombahton Massive put on by Gary Richards and his HARD team.  If you're in Miami which I think these two are I'm very jealous.  Anyway that wraps us up today.  Bang your head to these tracks and we'll see you next week for more soundcloud drops.

SXSW Massiveness

For those of you holding it down in Austin tonight at SXSW...I'm extremely jealous.  First of all you get to enjoy some amazing BBQ but mostly because you have a chance to go to this wild and crazy event tonight.  All the regulars will be holding it down, Nadastrom in particular will be spinning their upteenth massive, but this will be an especially awesome show as all the big time moombahtonistas who are chillin' at SXSW will surely be in attendance, plus I hear they're giving away free shirts to a select few so get there early!  If you don't already know, here's a little audio preview of what likely will be going down.

Heartbreak Ready to SHAKE the Golden State

Expect VIBRATIONS

This weekend, purveyors of the moombahton sound Mad Decent and Muevelo are teaming up to bring the big man David Heartbreak to the coast.  NorCal gets a dose Friday night and LA will be rocking hard Saturday.  To get everyone ready here are some tracks from the featured DJs including Heartbreak himself.

Moombahton Massive 12 is TONIGHT

These are the quintessential moombahton parties on a national and international scale and tonight is no exception.  Curator's Nadatrom will again headline their signature event with a little help from the biggest moombahtonistas around, Sabo, Heartbreak, Munchi, and Jen Lasher.  If I lived anywhere on the eastern seaboard I would be making my way to our nations capitol tonight for what is sure to be another amazing MASSIVE.

Moombahton Massive XI TONIGHT!

GET THERE!

Tonight is the eleventh Moombahton Massive at DC's U-Street Music Hall.  Taste masters Nadastrom will headline per usual with LA's Sabo, San Antonio's Bro Safari, and PHX's Pickster One in support.  These parties are always wild and crazy so we suggest you get on down and party all night.  PS - don't forget to hit up Mama Nada's Empenadas.  Here are some tracks from the featured moombahtonistas.

Wednesday Evening Moombah!

BANG YOUR HEAD!

It's hump day so I thought I'd pass along some music to bounce your week steadily closer to the upcoming long weekend.  Here are three tracks I can't get enough of lately.
Fuck Wit My Eardrums - DJ KLEVER x BILLY THE GENT by Billy The Gent
This is the lead cut off Billy The Gent's late 2011 comp Through The Wire and its dancy right outta the gate.  With loads of heavy bass and Klever's patented hard edge stylings, this track has been on REPEAT for me at the gym (I've never ridden a stationary bike so fast in my life).
2Hearts - Waltz Me Moombah (Original Mix) by Kick Around Sounds
Hailing from the American mid-west, 2Hearts brought out some classical dance moves for their contribution to last year's New Wave Of Moombahton release.  "Waltz Me" is a great show piece for the variety that really exists in this baby genre, from the heaviest of tracks down to a slow dance, it has a little something for everyone.
Doin Ya Thang (Sabo Edit) by SolSelectas
Every time this track comes on in my car I die laughing.  The vocal samples Sabo has laid in here just get me rolling, I imagine bouncing at the club then stopping, clapping my hands, and greeting the return of the beat with vigor.  Say, "we came to partayyyyyyyyyy"!!!

Moombahton Massive XI Coming to U-Hall DC

it's on

Returning once again to the legendary U-Street Music Hall on January 18th it's Moombahton Massive XI featuring Nadastrom, DJ Sabo, Pickster One, and Bro Safari.  These parties are infamous for ass shaking, loud bass music, and people getting reallllll grimey on the dance floor.  Need proof?  Check this preview video for the upcoming event.

I'm looking forward to the next installment in the Moombahton Massive EP series which usually precedes these events, the most recent being MM7 from Sol Selectas.
