MWP 21

Wednesdays are always interesting here at MTH HQ.  Plenty of work to be done, plenty of new music to be heard, plenty of new comics to read!  That's why since February we've been trying our hardest to bring you new music to carry you through to the end of the work week in this thing we call the Midweek Pull.  This week Marvel premiers a pretty absurd crossover called A-Babies vs X-Babies that we're dying to get our grubby little paws on, might I suggest a trip down to your local comic vendor to do the same?  Also, there's some new tracks from the likes of Klever, Neki Stranac, and more dropping on soundcloud that we'd like to share with ya!

Let's start it off with a little moombah flavor from our favorite Serb: Neki Stranac.  The maestro serves up a hyped out flip of Stuka's "Stripper".  FREE DOWNLOAD!

And yeah, we're one week from Halloween so it's about time we infused a little spookiness into our selections.  This one has been "certified jackin" by the powers at be...it's the Mad Villains channeling the Maitland's and it's a FREE DOWNLOAD!

Ryan Marks dropped his Fiji EP on Party Like Us yesterday and it's a foot stomper to be sure.  My favorite remix comes from D!rty Aud!o and is a nice little moombah jaunt.  The ETC!ETC! remix is available for FREE DOWNLOAD...grab the full EP RIGHT HERE.

Our friend in bass: Inflect, recently packed up his stuff and moved from Nebraska to Los Angeles (tough decision I'm sure) and apparently he's enjoying himself because his latest is an ode to his new home.  I can personally attest to the griminess of downtown LA so I think this gritty track is an accurate reflection of that....FREE DOWNLOAD!

How about a moombahton team up of most epic proportions??  DJ Melo edited Sabo and Paul Devro's recently released dub of this Smalltown DJs track and decided to share it with the masses after it's success at the most recent Moombahton Massive in DC.  If you're down with the crew then buy the Sol Selectas release RIGHT HERE.

Err'body knows ATL kingpin Klever can destroy a dancefloor via a set of turntables but my man has been pumping out some killer tuneage of late as well.  Here's a freebie from the folks at Top Billin in support of his latest EP..."Higher" is available as a FREE DOWNLOAD, meanwhile Money Stacks is out now and you can buy it RIGHT HERE.

Sometimes we're all suckers for a little techno am I right??  Especially when it comes from France and ESPECIALLY when it comes from Bambounou.  My main man's remix of Fortune by Darling Farah is a late night escapade not to be missed.  Grab Body from Civil Music RIGHT HERE and grab the remix EP RIGHT HERE.

Speaking of FR, Killtronik recently had a remix contest for their track "Paris La Nuit" and this moombah-flip from The Kid Vicious DIDN'T WIN!!  What a shame...oh well, now it's up for FREE DOWNLOAD so grab it and play the hell outta it.  Super fresh, super light, super airy, super super.

That's all for now folks...we'll be back next Wednesday (HALLOWEEN) for more tracks to keep you company.  In the meantime, get back to work!!!

Friday Night SMOOTH Music

I was listening to Steely Dan all the way home tonight and it got me in the mood for some smooth music.  Those soft airy vocals, the subtly haunting lyrics, and vocal perfection were the perfect soundtrack for my dusk commute; it's summertime y'all, let's enjoy it while it lasts...jam on a sexy set of moombahfied smooth classics.

The Return of the MWP

After relaxing last week I'm back with a vengeance with more and more and MORE new music in this week's rendition of MTH's Midweek Pull.  Unfortunately for y'all, I'm heading to San Diego for Comic-Con tomorrow so this'll be my last day this week posting stuff up.  Fortunately I'll be making time for the MWP as well as our mixtape blog for this week today in anticipation of downtime over the next few days.  So strap on your seat belts and get ready for some bangers from Gigi Barocco, DJ Melo, JayyFresh, and more!!!  Let's do it...

Y'all know I love me some heavy kick drum and Mackai delivers just that in this team up with Narrator.  This is smash up the hotel room music so take this tune on vacation and run up your room bill would ya?

Out next week on Sol Selectas, DJ Melo's Sol Sauce EP will be a moombah release everyone should pick up.  This dude's been making hits since the start of this whole movement so he's bringing his taste maker sensibilities to Sabo's label which can only produce amazing results...as this track proves.  FREE DOWNLOAD!

I've been trying harder and harder to distance myself and this site from this unholy wave of Trap music that seems to have engulfed the whole of soundcloud and the moombahton FB group.  But with tracks like this it gets sorta hard.  Luminox DESTROYING fools with this one so I just had to post it.

Vegas is NOT ready for this new one from Teen Wolf and Shelco Garcia.  The long time friends/collaborators get together again for a moombah jam that will fill your ears with joy.  Oh snap...it's a FREE DOWNLOAD too!!  So jump on it!!

Jesus...think you've had enough with the bangers today????  WELL TOO FUCKING BAD!  JayyFresh asking you for just a tad big MORE ENERGY with this free track.  I think I'm scaring the folks in the surrounding studios...whilst I'm writing this the soundproof windows are rattling.

Want some more uptempo, heavy bass action??  Well I'm happy to help you with that.  Autoerotique are having a remix competition for their track "WTF" and I think this submission deserves a little bit of attention y'all.  La'Reda driving the nail into their competition's coffins with gigantic bass hammers.

Just when I thought heavy music was moving out and slow, danceable beats were becoming the hottest stuff on the net those damn Bloody Beetroots had to come in and start putting out mosh pit worthy shit like THIS.  Gigi Barocco throws his hat in the circle basically saying, "hey, you wanna rumble??  I'll fuck you up pretty bad little kids."  Support this release, BUY IT HERE.  And the ORIGINAL.

Wow, I'm exhausted now so lets take it down a few notches with a submission from FUKDUP.  Love it when folks reach out to me to share some dope ass moombahton.  There's so much filth out there in the saturated world of the internet so it's nice when a track surprises me.  Good on ya dude!

Well that's all for this week's pull y'all.  Hope you like it, stay tuned to MTH for all your heavy music needs and more!  And if you really, really enjoy what you see here, make sure to connect with us on Facebook, twitter, mixcloud, and soundcloud for all things Metal Top Hat.

New Music Time!

Monday morning comes with a few connotations...an early wake up call for sure--especially after a long weekend of raging--as well as the dreaded first work day of the week.  But lucky for you, Monday morning also means new music from your friends here at the MTH blog.  We've been on the hunt for tracks since last week and are dying to drop them on you, now that it's Monday and I'm fresh as hell in the studio here we go!  This week new stuff from MoonDoctoR, Loud Flavor, DJ Melo and more.

First up, here's an edit by the one and only JFK of MSTRKRFT. This dude is the chopping expert and he proves it time and again, this time flipping Autoerotique's latest, "Roll The Drums". Make sure to grab the EKG EP RIGHT HERE

Yellow Claw are a trio of producers coming out of Amsterdam that you should get to know. There stuff is a little on the wonky side, which is mainly why I'm so drawn to it I guess; check out this remix of their countrymen the Partysquad.

Now for the soul section of today's tracks, starting off with Loud Flavor's latest rework, this time my man Jeff takes on buzzcore sanger Frank Ocean and gives it the 108 treatment. Something about soft keys that work so perfectly for moombahsoul...

This track was brought to my attention via my inbox and I'm really happy dude sought me out cause this thing is dripping with steez and I'm more than willing to drop it on you this morning. Kadkad working the soul out of Justin Martin.

Don Valdez is another name you should get to know, in case you didn't already that is. His latest release, the Burqueño EP is out now and you can grab it RIGHT HERE

Now onto the hood shit...LeDoom and Vegas Banger going mad right here with their rework on Kanye's "Mercy". Huge bass on this one.

Our homeboy Jamaal has been putting out consistently heavy duty tracks and we always wanna show him mad love. Check out Cy Kosis' latest track y'all...the kid's got some talent.

Big Makk giving a hard edge to Ms. Goulding's smooth vocal on this re-up...FREE DL!

Oh my, you know I gotta show some SERIOUS love to the PHX fam. Love waking up to free DLs from the homie DJ Melo, this guy puts out some top notch stuff and he's a legend in the movement. Speaking personally, the homie Pickster is a cool cat, the Gunslingaz killed it at Muevelo last week and I've got extra special stuff from them coming before the end of the month so watch out.

Damn, another heater just dropping into my mail. This is a month old at this point but, still worth blasting out to y'all. There's still a few downloads left so grab it while you can and let Kaptain know where ya found him!

Closing it out this morning, a new track from MoonDoctoR...super glitchy bass track with extra hood pads throughout. This dude is on some other level stuff with this one, be about it ASAP.

Well that's it for this morning. Tons of stuff coming this week so keep it locked on the MTH facebook and twitter pages for the latest and greatest from your heavy music friends over here. Till we meet again y'all.

Draw...Partna

South West moombahton is being showcased YET AGAIN with today's relase of AZ Gunslingaz Volume 2.  El Cuco head honcho Mendez compiled this six song comp that features the heavy hitters of the Arizona scene: DJ Melo, Mendez himself, Ellery, Pickster, and Riot Earp.
The AZ Gunslingaz formed just over a year ago in Phoenix Arizonaton. A band of producers pulling from many different backgrounds that came together to push the Phoenix electronic music scene/sound out of the Clubs of Phoenix, and Into Bass Cabinets all over the world. With great success from Vol.1 last summer, Pickster One, DJ Melo, Mendez, Riot Earp, Sluggo & Ellery all pushing the Southwest Tropical Bass sounds, showcase the growth of the group as producers and their individual musical tastes on Vol.2 touching on Moombahton, Kuduro, Trap, Juke, and Moombahcore with influences from Brazilian Drums, Spanish Flamenco guitar, Chicago Juke to some good Ole Southwest Phoenix Moombahton. Trying to keep up with these kids can be tuff, just look for the Dust cloud in the desert and the AZ Gunslingaz won't be far away.
This group of outlaws will grace the streets of downtown Los Angeles tomorrow night in full support of this release at the June rendition of LA's hottest all moombah party, Muevelo.  So do yourself a favor and peep this comp (grab it for free RIGHT HERE) and if you're in the LA area get your ass down to Vertigo's tomorrow night and rage.

Check out the crew on Facebook for more information about upcoming releases/shows/appearances and more:

Midweek Mayhem

Ladies and gentlemen!  We've reached the mid point in yet another great week for new music lovers and so it is again my pleasure to share some of my favorites.  It's sunny as hell out here in LA so it's some what torturous to be sitting in this cool air conditioned, windowless studio pouring over the dredges soundcloud has to offer but I take pride in bringing the heat to you out there in internet-land.  Fresh heat from David Heartbreak, Mendez, The Al Gore Rhythm Method and more this week so let's get it cracking!

Sin Diesel kicking things off with his forthcoming remix of Rot10 president Kid Cedek. Love the lurking drum work on this one as my man takes a seemingly darker approach than some other versions we've heart of this track.

FREE DOWNLOAD! El Cuco head honcho Mendez coming back again with yet another bootleg. Jump on this one while it's still available.

The Nadastrom remix of this still reigns as my favorite version of this Drop The Lime cut but I'll give the man props for this darker take on his own work.

Javier Estrada penned this theme music for LA based The Wood Class...met some of these dudes at Muevelo a while back, get at them if you wanna be mad swagged outta your mind.

Heartbreak calls this track a cross between "Trap Shit and Badman Rave". Good to see the chameleon back at it again with yet ANOTHER stylistic jump. Fans of this site know I'm a Marvel fan boy so mad props to Dave for donning the purple and green as well.

One of my absolutely favorite producers, Frenchman Douster dropped this new remix on us today. It debuted in the Thermal Teams most recent podcast and the awesome news is, IT'S FREE!

More Canadian moombah for y'all from the homies in TAGRM. Another step in a cool direction for this duo, we here at MTH look forward to more awesome productions to come.

Melo released this soulful, summer jam yesterday on his The Diamond King release. I suggest you pick it up immediately.

Here's another summer-tinged track from LA duo Poolside. Their "Daytime Disco" take on this cut from The Rapture has me yearning for a mojito and a chez lounge.

Yet another super-star team up for Dillon Francis, this time with Fool's Gold co-founder A-Trak. Make sure to check out the wacky video for this one featuring a handful of cool cameos.

Another lurky bass driven track and guess what...it's a FREE DOWNLOAD! Y'all know how much I love those...check out Doc Trashz FB page for more info on this Trouble and Bass artist.

In honor of Donna Summer's passing last week Riot Earp through together this club re-work of the Diana Ross classic "Missing You"...we here at MTH are also mourning the legendary disco artists passing, RIP.

This final track is somewhat a joke not sure if El Nomada is in on it but either way I like his 8-bitaton...haha.

So that'll do it for this week's new tracks.  Make sure to check in with us on Friday for some crazy mixtape madness!

After The DemBow Quits, Come Back With More Hits

This little gem hit my inbox Monday morning and I've taken these last few days to collect it, disect it, and inspect it.  All rhymes aside, this is yet ANOTHER stellar moombah-compilation curated by Zaid over at the 110 BPM Blog (you may remember Volume 1 of this series, if not check it out RIGHT HERE).  Volume 2 of the 110 Collection features totally radical tracks from some of our favorite producers including but not limited to, DJ Melo, CSK, Neki Stranac, Kovary, and much much more.  SoCal kid Rankin dives right in with his crushing track "Stroke The Saber" and this bad boy kicks into high gear.  Other highlights for me include the Ace Future track "Flip The Switch" and Colour Vision's flip of Q-Tip's "Vivrant Thing".  My hands down favorite comes from DJ Melo in the form of "Lluvia", a heavy dose of drums perfect for my long rides through South LA on the blue line.  All in all it seems these Canadians know a thing or two about moombahton so I'm delivering my co-sign to this sucker, do yourself a favor and grab it.  It's FREE!!

Make sure to check out the 110BPM Blog in all these fantastic places:

Massiveness

The biggest Moombahton Massive EP to date features tracks from none other than Nadastrom, Sabo, DJ Melo, Steve Starks, and JWLS.  Scion A/V picked up the release and is giving it away free RIGHT HERE.  Preview the tracks and download them from the Scion page; this release marks the launch of this months MM Tour featuring Nadastrom and Sabo which will hit cities across the country and in Canada (see tour flyer below).  So grab these awesome jams and make sure to check out the big boys of the moombah-game coming through your city soon.

Midweek Gathering

Hooray!  Soundcloud has returned and so too have we here at MTH with our midweek picks of the best of what we've been hearing.  Lots of cool stuff today from the likes of David Heartbreak, Mendez, Neki Stranac, and more so lets stop the lolly-gagging and blast some tuneage! Let's kick things off with a super chill, "halftime edit" of Major Lazer's latest "Get Free" from the one and only Cousin Cole.

Munchi showing much love for this latin ass shaker from D-V3KZ so I figured I'd follow suit. Not much of a moombah blog if we don't do EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS right?

Here we have DJ Melo taking us on a less than bumpy ride through the galaxy. Really digging his latest stuff on his new soundcloud page. WHATUP FAM??

This track from King Kong is the theme music for something called Off/cina which I am too lazy to dive further into, if you're curious HERE IS THE SITE. This shit is smoooooooth and I like it.

This remix comes straight outta Israel from that dude SaBBo and is available for FREE from Generation Bass. Check out their write up of the Sobrando release HERE.

Phi Unit reworked this Toddla T track and it's a FREE DOWNLOAD.

Another flipped out moombah-saur from DC's own DJ Madd OD, gotta give love to the big homie, check out his latest mixtape "La Selva" RIGHT HERE.

El Cuco boss Mendez just dropped a four pack of YMCMB boots.  Grab them all RIGHT HERE.

Another fucking track from Neki Stranac, he's untouchable at this point. Be on the look out for his next hit, dropping on the 110BPM Vol. 2 release early next week.

This lurker comes courtesy of Nacey and is straight up MOBBING music. Love the lag in the drums and the far off sirens, makes me feel like I'm running from the cops on a dark night in the LB.

Last but certainly not least we have this new Skrillex chop from the dog David Heartbreak. He and Craze reworked 7 "Loc'd Out" tracks and you can grab them all RIGHT HERE.

Got a special request from the DVR folks to give this track a little "bump". Nothing like some original moombahton to get me motivated, we featured this track and the entire Slo Yo Roll release last week.

Well that'll do it for us again this fine hump day. Time to get back to real work, jam to these tunes, support the artists as always and we'll see you Friday with a fresh pack of mixtapes to get the weekend off to a fine start!

Fresh Monday

why they call you New-New?
So it's Monday morning, my face is still a tad bit numb, I'm about to pop a vicoprohin and eat some eggs but I wanted to get this post up before I bounced for work.  Hope y'all had a wonderful holiday weekend and are ready to get back to the grind.  I'm not quite ready but the week is not waiting on me to get rolling so here we go!  Starting this bitch off with freshness from the PHX king Pickster One; keep scrolling for more from the likes of David Heartbreak, Flubba, Wes De Graaf, and the great and powerful Munchi who seems to be turning more and more HEAVY METAL which I realllllly dig.

More from AGLORY RIGHT HERE

Midweek Pull

A "pull" refers to a service offered by most comic shops where they'll set aside all the titles you're interested in as they are released so you don't necessarily have to come in every Wednesday; your precious issues will always be waiting for you behind the counter.  For those in the know this can be very helpful as particular books will certainly sell out if you are like me and get lazy and/or forget to hit the shop when a popular title is released.  In the case of MTH's Midweek Pull we're taking on the role of the local comic vendor and doing all the work for you; all you gotta do is come on down and hear the hottest tracks of the week.  This week I'm super swamped in the studio so I don't have time to breakdown each pick so just take my word for it and listen to them all you bastards!  I'm doing all the work here and getting no love!!  Listen damn you!!

Monday Jump Off

why they call you new-new?
My oh my, the weekend flies by far to quickly lately and we've landed yet again here in the studio digging for some fresh tracks to get your week rolling.  I always wanna just keep hitting that snooze button on a Monday morning especially when it's half past four and I've gotta drive 30+ miles into work.  But now I'm wide awake and ready to give you some special stuff so lets get it going!

This track is coming from the dude DJ Melo from an apparently new soundcloud page but regardless of where it's posted, this sucker is classic Melo through and through.  Love the latin hook that drops into bleepy, bass driven madness.  LETS GO!

This special ReKwest dropped over the weekend and I couldn't wait to blow it up.  My fondness for this DC native knows little bounds especially when it comes to his moombahsoul stylings. So keep pushing my dude, everything you put out is on FIRE.

Next up a pair of remixes from the Bromance Records crew.  G.Vump and

Gesaffelstein going in deep on these ones.  They're taking on Lana Del Rey in a contest to see who is the most hip and IMHO the frenchmen take the cake.  Lending their signature styling to her soft vocal performance is just enough to get my feet shuffling here on a lazy Monday morning.

This one is perplexing.  I first came across the talented DJR when he teamed up with the homies 2Deep on their Otra Noche release and I must say, this new track is pretty impressive.  I enjoy how he says FU to any sort of template and just builds this beat into a monster at his own pace.  ¡DALE!

Neki Stranac...what more do I have to say here??  Every track I come across by this cat is absolutely bonkers.  So glad to keep finding more and more heaters from the Serbian genie to blow up my speakers.

Here are a couple from the President of Rot 10 Musik, first up is Kid Cedek's contribution to last month's Winter Of Moombahton compilation.

And here we have the winner of the Kid's "Sientelo" remix contest, AGLORY.  Check out the rest of the winners HERE.

You know I GOTTA represent for the kids 2Deep.  The LA duo is at it again, this time teaming up with Get Ghost for a slammin' beat that'll get your head nodding.  They seem to be getting down with the core shit and you know I like it heavy.

The aussie madman J-Trick coming at us all with some more free tunes, this time he's merging Gabba with his signature blend of moombah.  Squeaky as hell with a heavy ass bass, that's how he rolls and we here at MTH respect that fully.

Oh man, I wasn't sure what to think of this Selena track from DJ Madd OD, but then I hit play and immediately was nodding my head along with it.  Love these laid back 80's feel type tracks once they get super dembow'd out so big ups to the dude!

Here's something a little wild.  Not really sure where the inspiration for this "Congo Safari Remix" comes from but I for one would like to tip my cap to GAYMISTERIO for going out on a limb with this version of Diplo's "Express Yourself".  Nothing like a little crazy music to get you up and about on a Monday so pump this one and piss off your neighbors as you're getting ready to start your week.

Heartbreak promises this will be his final trap bubblin' track and we'll hold him to his word.  Everyone knows this dude loves experimenting with any and all genres so we applaud him for dipping his quill into this dirtified style and we'll gratefully post this sucker here for all to enjoy.
That's gonna do it for today's newness, wanna thank all the featured artists for continuing to pump out the jams for us to rock along to.  I hope this helps you shake the weekend funk off you!  PARTY ON!

HIGHLY Anticipated WMC Comp

It's curious that the Winter Of Moombahton compilation should be released on the 2nd day of spring but who am I to question the reasoning of this amazing group of artists; after all, last years Spring Of Moombahton didn't come out until July.  Compiled by none other than the great Jon Kwest, this sucker is fully loaded with hot new tracks from some of the movements biggest players and up and comers.  Just in time for the Winter Music Conference, DJ Mag imagines moombahton in, "a Rocky training montage as it prepares for its shot at the crown".  If it's on the verge of really blowing up worldwide we here at MTH feel like these artists Kwest has collected are a fine example of it.  Grab the whole comp HERE and check previews of some of my favs below.

Cy Kosis is KILLING it, literally!  It's a massacre.

Arizona dons Pickster & Melo team up for yet another bass filled BEAST.

This Kwest track is HANDS DOWN my favorite on the comp.  Real dark and dirty.

Cañamojoso first came to my attention via a new Kickstarter campaign launched by Lightening Eyez and company advocating for the legalization of MJ.  Get all the info HERE.

Tuesday Night YACHT ROCK

If the related videos on YouTube include Michael McDonald, Steely Dan, or the Doobies, you're probably listening to Yacht Rock. This stuff is as smooth as silk and just as sexy so slide off your deck shoes and boogie to the groove.

On a side note, thank you DJ Melo for reminding me how hot this track is.

New 2Deep EP fo FREEEEE

The latest from LA duo 2Deep featuring their homie DJR is a massive FREE release called Otra Noche.  This son of a bitch features huge remixes from DJ Melo and Quality.  The homies Def Sound (aka Luis) and UltraCat were kind enough to let me interview them last week at Muevelo, be on the look out for that video soon but in the meantime just sit back relax and ride to the beat.

This weekend lucky moombahtonistas Dave Nada, Brodinski, Dillon Francis, Diplo, DJ Craze, and many more are hitting the Caribbean for some pari-tyme at sea!  Meanwhile back on the mainland we're enjoying Wild Card weekend and a little sun ourselves.  Here are a few tracks we've been listening to and hope the folks on the boat are rocking out to.
