New Week...New Chunes

I took in 4 days of nerd-dom at the mecca of all things geeky: Comic-Con and am finally getting back on the horse here at MTH to bring you some new music for your little ears.  Best moment of the con you ask?  As always, the Masquerade Ball...it's basically a middle school dance blended with a Star Wars theme wedding.  All the best things of each including plenty of cosplayers mixing things up on the floor--greatest of which has to go to Earthworm Jim who actually came up to me and said, "WHO WANTS TO SEE JIM DO THE WORM??".  For more of my madness from all four days check my recaps over at META.  Now to the new tunes, not really up for much today so you'll have to take them all in and pass judgement for yourself!!!  New shit from ETC!ETC!, Mendez, Drop The Lime and more.

When This Thing Aligns With Mars All Hell Is Gonna Break Loose

The homie MADD OD dropped another free comp today (grab it RIGHT HERE)...it's dedicated to the god of the sky and it's eleven tracks of pure latin moombah glory.  This dude has been wrecking things around the world, most recently with a little jaunt down to South America, but now he's back to work chopping up tracks at 108bpm.  The Jupiter EP is pure moombahton which shouldn't surprise those who are familiar with the DC native's work in the past.  He was kind enough to answer a few questions for us today so check out what he has to say about himself and his latest release.
MTH - Origin story!  Name, current location, when did you get started DJ'ing?
MOD - My real name is Oscar Mendieta, known by DJ MADD OD... although i had carried the name DJ LEGACY up untill 2 years ago (but that's a whole other chapter of my life).  I was born in a small town in Nicaragua and i came to the states when i was 4.  I currently live in Washington DC.  I started dj'ing at the age of 14 at a recreation center in Arlington VA with the help of my child hood mentor Edson Bravo.  At the age of 15 I was already djing in clubs all over the DMV (dc, Maryland, & Virginia) by the time I was 18 I had already dj'ed every major club in the DMV. I dj'ed my own Prom and homecoming... lol weird huh? As I said earlier I went by the name DJ LEGACY, so in my home town the name is like a legend... lol ask around. Anyone doing anything big in the Latin community I had something to do with it, one way or another.  By the time  I was 21, I had already dj'ed for big Latin & hip hop acts such as Daddy Yankee, Fuego, Plan B, Big Boy, Nicky Jam, Cory Gunz, Gordo Brega and many more.  I got into production when I was about 19 when I was living on my own. I also had my own Show on XM radio before the merger for about 2 years back in 2005.  I currently DJ for Top Latin Billboard Artist "Fuego".  With the help of Fuego I have been able to spread the Moombahton sound all over Latin America and Europe. I even managed to get him and Sensato (Pitbull's new artist) on a moombahton track Called "Plata o Plomo" produced by Munchi & Alvaro.  My biggest moombah plug was a concert I did in Guatemala for over 12,000 in attendance.
Well lately its been like that... lol in Europe 2!  I give thanks to God for all the opportunities he has given me and I pray that he continues to bless me!!!  As far as the next tour, we are getting ready to head back to Spain to tour with Juan Magan.  Then back to South America to end summer off!

MUCH MORE AFTER THE JUMP Y'ALL

Breakin' Things Down...Midweek Style

Sometimes it can be difficult to come up with a magnitude of tracks that I see fitting for our long posts.  This week that is certainly not the case.  So much new stuff jumping up on soundcloud it's slightly baffling to me, y'all must be working your asses off in the studio trying to get this stuff out and might I add, it's pretty great work!  New stuff today from Valorous, DJ Madd OD, Craze and more...let's quit talking about it and jump right into the new material.

Coming off the success of his Generation Bass release this month, OktoRed dropped this free track for his fans to enjoy! It's a tasty slice of dembowed electronica with plenty of low end to get your trunk rattling.

No one doubts Bart B More and Harvard Bass' abilities when it comes to rocking a party into the wee hours of the AM. Here, in their latest collaboration for Secure Recordings, they give us a theme song to their long used phrase describing such raucousness.  BUY IT HERE.

Another free track from our buddy :DFace in his summer of free music series. This one drives along in a pitchy battle between kick and synth leads. Good stuff.

DMC Champ and Miami native Craze promised that for every game the Heat won in the finals he'd drop a Loc'd Out remix. Well after Lebron and the boys handled biz on Sunday about 5 tracks jumped onto the man's soundcloud as promised...the best part? They're all FREE!! This is my fav.

And here we have Mr. Vega (1/2 of Sazon Booya) delivering a hot hot hot moombahcore flip of Zegema Beach's "People Don't"...FIRE...FREE DOWNLOAD!

Some moombah-fied merengue from LA's own Jonny Chino...he flipped Tabaco Y Ron into his own heavy kick style...super blipy and dance floor ready...nearly. It's still unmastered and we here at MTH eagerly await the final version.

Some more moombahcore from friend of the site Valorous...this original track has some catchy ass vocal chops and a mesmerizing synth bass to get you worked up right into the thick of it.

Now two from Diabluma Sound; this Steve Starks tune dropped on Generation Bass earlier in the week as part of their Moombahtonista series (volume 007 with Dave Nada). It's a great read, big props to DJ UMB for educating the masses and a special thanks for the free download y'all!

Now this is from Diabluma founders and moombahton "inventors" Nadastrom...not sure why but they decided to jump back into the soundcloud game and dropped a few tracks including this one, which I don't have in my collection, so I thought I'd share it with my loyal readers.

Sandwich Island Bass are a trio of producers from Maui who have recently been all over the moombah game. This new track is a core-leaning ditty and you can almost feel the ocean breeze pass over you as you take in the mass of sounds.

Here we have a new cut from DC OG: DJ Madd OD. It's a great new song in his signature latin style with plenty of bouncy beats to get the dance floor moving. Plus it's another FREE DOWNLOAD! Which you know I dig.

Last but not least, here's a new track from the crazy duo of DJ EJ and MiniMaxX. This track was premiered by Walmer last week and we're jumping on it too cause it's a heater! And cause we wanna give cred where it's due and these cats are DUE!  Plus it's our fav...FREE DOWNLOAD.

That'll do it for this week's midweek pull, thanks again for checking us out. For all things MTH please make sure to check us out on Facebook, twitter, and send any songs you want us to hear at our email or to our soundcloud inbox! See you Friday for some mixtapes y'all!!

Midweek Gathering

Hooray!  Soundcloud has returned and so too have we here at MTH with our midweek picks of the best of what we've been hearing.  Lots of cool stuff today from the likes of David Heartbreak, Mendez, Neki Stranac, and more so lets stop the lolly-gagging and blast some tuneage! Let's kick things off with a super chill, "halftime edit" of Major Lazer's latest "Get Free" from the one and only Cousin Cole.

Munchi showing much love for this latin ass shaker from D-V3KZ so I figured I'd follow suit. Not much of a moombah blog if we don't do EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS right?

Here we have DJ Melo taking us on a less than bumpy ride through the galaxy. Really digging his latest stuff on his new soundcloud page. WHATUP FAM??

This track from King Kong is the theme music for something called Off/cina which I am too lazy to dive further into, if you're curious HERE IS THE SITE. This shit is smoooooooth and I like it.

This remix comes straight outta Israel from that dude SaBBo and is available for FREE from Generation Bass. Check out their write up of the Sobrando release HERE.

Phi Unit reworked this Toddla T track and it's a FREE DOWNLOAD.

Another flipped out moombah-saur from DC's own DJ Madd OD, gotta give love to the big homie, check out his latest mixtape "La Selva" RIGHT HERE.

El Cuco boss Mendez just dropped a four pack of YMCMB boots.  Grab them all RIGHT HERE.

Another fucking track from Neki Stranac, he's untouchable at this point. Be on the look out for his next hit, dropping on the 110BPM Vol. 2 release early next week.

This lurker comes courtesy of Nacey and is straight up MOBBING music. Love the lag in the drums and the far off sirens, makes me feel like I'm running from the cops on a dark night in the LB.

Last but certainly not least we have this new Skrillex chop from the dog David Heartbreak. He and Craze reworked 7 "Loc'd Out" tracks and you can grab them all RIGHT HERE.

Got a special request from the DVR folks to give this track a little "bump". Nothing like some original moombahton to get me motivated, we featured this track and the entire Slo Yo Roll release last week.

Well that'll do it for us again this fine hump day. Time to get back to real work, jam to these tunes, support the artists as always and we'll see you Friday with a fresh pack of mixtapes to get the weekend off to a fine start!

Monday Jump Off

why they call you new-new?
My oh my, the weekend flies by far to quickly lately and we've landed yet again here in the studio digging for some fresh tracks to get your week rolling.  I always wanna just keep hitting that snooze button on a Monday morning especially when it's half past four and I've gotta drive 30+ miles into work.  But now I'm wide awake and ready to give you some special stuff so lets get it going!

This track is coming from the dude DJ Melo from an apparently new soundcloud page but regardless of where it's posted, this sucker is classic Melo through and through.  Love the latin hook that drops into bleepy, bass driven madness.  LETS GO!

This special ReKwest dropped over the weekend and I couldn't wait to blow it up.  My fondness for this DC native knows little bounds especially when it comes to his moombahsoul stylings. So keep pushing my dude, everything you put out is on FIRE.

Next up a pair of remixes from the Bromance Records crew.  G.Vump and

Gesaffelstein going in deep on these ones.  They're taking on Lana Del Rey in a contest to see who is the most hip and IMHO the frenchmen take the cake.  Lending their signature styling to her soft vocal performance is just enough to get my feet shuffling here on a lazy Monday morning.

This one is perplexing.  I first came across the talented DJR when he teamed up with the homies 2Deep on their Otra Noche release and I must say, this new track is pretty impressive.  I enjoy how he says FU to any sort of template and just builds this beat into a monster at his own pace.  ¡DALE!

Neki Stranac...what more do I have to say here??  Every track I come across by this cat is absolutely bonkers.  So glad to keep finding more and more heaters from the Serbian genie to blow up my speakers.

Here are a couple from the President of Rot 10 Musik, first up is Kid Cedek's contribution to last month's Winter Of Moombahton compilation.

And here we have the winner of the Kid's "Sientelo" remix contest, AGLORY.  Check out the rest of the winners HERE.

You know I GOTTA represent for the kids 2Deep.  The LA duo is at it again, this time teaming up with Get Ghost for a slammin' beat that'll get your head nodding.  They seem to be getting down with the core shit and you know I like it heavy.

The aussie madman J-Trick coming at us all with some more free tunes, this time he's merging Gabba with his signature blend of moombah.  Squeaky as hell with a heavy ass bass, that's how he rolls and we here at MTH respect that fully.

Oh man, I wasn't sure what to think of this Selena track from DJ Madd OD, but then I hit play and immediately was nodding my head along with it.  Love these laid back 80's feel type tracks once they get super dembow'd out so big ups to the dude!

Here's something a little wild.  Not really sure where the inspiration for this "Congo Safari Remix" comes from but I for one would like to tip my cap to GAYMISTERIO for going out on a limb with this version of Diplo's "Express Yourself".  Nothing like a little crazy music to get you up and about on a Monday so pump this one and piss off your neighbors as you're getting ready to start your week.

Heartbreak promises this will be his final trap bubblin' track and we'll hold him to his word.  Everyone knows this dude loves experimenting with any and all genres so we applaud him for dipping his quill into this dirtified style and we'll gratefully post this sucker here for all to enjoy.
That's gonna do it for today's newness, wanna thank all the featured artists for continuing to pump out the jams for us to rock along to.  I hope this helps you shake the weekend funk off you!  PARTY ON!

HIGHLY Anticipated WMC Comp

It's curious that the Winter Of Moombahton compilation should be released on the 2nd day of spring but who am I to question the reasoning of this amazing group of artists; after all, last years Spring Of Moombahton didn't come out until July.  Compiled by none other than the great Jon Kwest, this sucker is fully loaded with hot new tracks from some of the movements biggest players and up and comers.  Just in time for the Winter Music Conference, DJ Mag imagines moombahton in, "a Rocky training montage as it prepares for its shot at the crown".  If it's on the verge of really blowing up worldwide we here at MTH feel like these artists Kwest has collected are a fine example of it.  Grab the whole comp HERE and check previews of some of my favs below.

Cy Kosis is KILLING it, literally!  It's a massacre.

Arizona dons Pickster & Melo team up for yet another bass filled BEAST.

This Kwest track is HANDS DOWN my favorite on the comp.  Real dark and dirty.

Cañamojoso first came to my attention via a new Kickstarter campaign launched by Lightening Eyez and company advocating for the legalization of MJ.  Get all the info HERE.
