MORE from MUNCHI

More and more and more hits coming from Rotterdam's finest, Munchi.  This guy is one of our all time favorite producers here at MTH and we know y'all love him so we're posting up everything he puts out.  There's no way I could do nearly enough justice on these tracks so I'll leave it up to the man himself to explain his newest sounds to you.  From Generation Bass:
OK, ok. I love talking about shit and I talk even more about music, but this is to introduce the 3rd release this week.
Introducing the free EP once again at the end of the month, this month with the long delayed 3ball Dub EP!
This contains the ‘Skrillex Es Un Montro’ track, 3Ball remix of my favorite Dubstep track Noah D’s ‘Serious’ and a 3Skull remix of Chase & Status’ ‘Smash TV’ (still a favorite on my MP3 lol). And as you might know, I like to write some more info on the tracks when releasing it – and that’s what I’m doing now BOW!
1. Chase & Status – Smash TV (Munchi’s 3Skull ‘Shoryuken’ Remix)
So this is still one of my favorite DnB tracks. FUCK, that filtered synth thingy that goes on the thirds is SO GOOD.
I always wanted to remix this track so I eventually did and I was still doubting to release it, but eventually after a remastering I did now as you can see lol! I put some Street Fighter samples in it and some reeses and Skullstep snares and also an unexpected random Street Fighter fight somewhere in the track for fun, lol. And of course the most important element which is the 3ball. BAM!
2. Munchi – Skrillex Es Un Montro
HA! I remember when I first heared this track, and I was like WTF. Tittsworth showed me when it still was called ‘Untitled’ lol. I made a Moombahcore remix of it which I never put out, but only played on gigs.
Then I made a 3ball remix of it and waited until it was out there so that I could put it up on Soundcloud. I’ve been asked a shitload of times for this remix, until someone put up a ripped version and everyone started playing out that lol. And on Youtube people said that it was Moombahton, because it was on a Moombahton mixtape for some reason. But after a long delay here is haha!!
3. Noah D – Serious (Munchi’s 3Ball Remix)
My favorite Dubstep track. Yes, this track. I fucking love it. Everytime Nicon played it at the Subway parties in Rotterdam – I just waited for that track to come up haha. It was actually going to be an official remix, but since I kinda took too long I was like it’s all good. Free shit is what it’s about anyway BOW!

New Dooze Jackers Clip

Here's the latest video from the Dooze Jacker cats.  It showcases their raukus shows from last year and is somewhat of a preview of what to expect in the new year from these guys, lots of sweat and grinding.  From the band:
Major love to everyone that support us. Really appreciated it and get ready for 2012 its gonna be a massive one !

RIP Davy Jones

Davvy Jones, former lead singer of the Monkees has died today at the age of 66.  The former teen heart throb suffered an apparent heart attack in his Florida home.  Hits like "Daydream Believer", "Last Train To Clarksville", and "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" help thrust the made for TV band into America's spotlight.

Midweek Soundcloud Pull

Here are a few new tracks we've been jamming too in the studio this week, it's the first installment of MTH's Midweek Pull.  Let's start off with some scary stuff...
Emma Louise - Jungle (Nightmare! Moombahton Bootleg) by Nightmare!
This lurky track from Nightmare! is a downtempo respite for us weary travelers in the world of EDM. The ethereal vocals of Emma Louise tease us into a breakdown and build back up into a ferocious bass line that'll wake you up from the deepest, darkest slumber.
Nightmare - Original Mix by Mackai
Next up is another stunning original from Sydney's own Mackai. It's another in the vein of wobbly, sneaky, scary bass tracks coming from down under and we approve!
N2Deep "Back to the Hotel" (King Kong Remix) DVR001 by kkingkong
Next we have two remixes of the N2Deep classic "Back To The Hotel" coming from Deadly Vipers. First up is from MTH fav King Kong who has recently been causing a buzz in the moombahton movement with features on the 110BPM Collection as well as Generation Bass's Moombahluv 3.
N2Deep - Back To The Hotel (D-V3KZ Remix) by Deadly Viper Recordings
The second rendition comes from SoCal's own D-V3KZ who yet again has a dark take on the classic jam infusing heavy bass with chopped up horns that'll get your party moving.

Strange Sounds from Poland

Until today I must confess I had not heard of "Witch House" which is apparently a sub genre consisting of sketchy beats at slower, darker tempos.  Poland's Sebastian Walas put together this underground compilation released by Cowshed Records and it was sent to my soundcloud for me to listen to.  If you've been reading MTH lately you know we listen to some strange stuff so I felt obligated to pass this one on.  Definitely great tunes to conduct any séance to but also side effects has cool lurking tracks for those of us into the darker side of the bass world.

Monday is for NEW Music

It's early out west and I've been perusing the depths of soundcloud to try and bring y'all some fresh new tracks to start the week of riiiiggggghhhhttt.  LESSSSSS GO!
Noisia - Tommy's Theme (Munchi's Fear is Weakness Remix) by NOISIA
BLAP!
Kool & the Gang - Jungle Boogie (Kovary nu jump up booty) by Kovary
BAM
Valorous - Danger (D-V3KZ Remix) by D-V3KZ
OH SNAP?!
Voltron - Take It Easy (Lorenzo Vektor Remix) by Lorenzo Vektor
WOW
Black Rob-Whoa(Card-1 Bailecrunk-N-Bass Rmx) by Card-1
CHICKY CHECK
BINGO PLAYERS - RATTLE (SPENDA C REMIX) by TOP BILLIN
BANG
DJ MADD OD X DMX X MACHINE GUN KELLY - I DONT DANCE (MOOMBAH REMIX (108 BPM) by DJ MADD OD - DC
ARF! ARF!

110BPM and Rising

Yet another big time FREE compilation of up and coming moombahton acts has been released on the 110BPM blog out of Vancouver, BC.  Featuring MTH favs King Kong, babySTEPS, CSK, and others this is definitely one for the grabbing; the 320kbps MP3s of Volume 1 are available HERE and a stream of the comp is available below courtesy of the 110BPM soundcloud.

Ultimate Mashup

Normally you or I may be satisfied with two, three, or even four tracks in a decent mash up but for French duo Justice not even 10 or 20 would suffice.  Xavier and Gaspard some how managed to cram 54 (!!!!!) different songs into five minutes of mastery for Annie Mac's BBC radio show last Friday.  The full track list is available on soundcloud but here are a few of our favorites here at MTH.

"New" Munchi Out Next Week

One of the biggest and baddest producers within the movement will finally release some of his early work next week via Mad Decent.  Moombahtonista features updated mixes and mastered versions of some of the biggest original tracks to feature the slowed down dem-bow stylings of the genre.  Munchi's original production was monumental to the development of moombahton as an original sound, taking everything to the next level beyond mere edits.  In anticipation, the folks down at the MD soundcloud have uploaded a preview mini-mix of the EP (which seems to be the way things are done nowadays).  We here at MTH are eagerly awaiting the release which is next Tuesday 2/28/12.

Slash & Betty White enter the LAIR

Known philanthropist and animal lover Betty White is a huge supporter of the LA Zoo and she's been teamed up with Slash to promote their newest exhibit, LAIR (which stands for Lizards, Amphibians, Invertebrates, and Reptiles).  His affliction for snakes probably has nothing to do with it.

4 MORE from 1994

4 Songs from 1994

Tonya Harding, Lorena Bobbitt, and the death of Kurt Cobain; 1994 was not the most innocent of years even though Jim Carrey began his rise to prominence with roles in Dumb and Dumber and The Mask.  Here are four tracks to get you in that nostalgic mood.

Friday Night Tapes and MORE!

We've reached the end to yet another week!  Pat yourself on the back and take a listen to some of these choice mixtapes we here at MTH are laying out for you.  Get ready for your weekend in style and for those of you heading out to the clubs tonight or tomorrow, enjoy it and be safe! (PS - enjoy a couple new tracks after the jump!)

More Miami Bass for your Friday

Matthew Van Toth is an up and coming producer out of Miami; as one half of GTA along with JWLS he has been lighting up the scene as of late with huge support from the likes of Afrojack, Laidback Luke, Nadastrom, and many more.  Today he is giving us a peak at his upcoming EP "Free Hoe Less" which ventures into the house sound infused with his Dade County bass roots.  The long and winding tracks take the listener on a journey through the diabolical and leave you wanting much, much more.  As the night pushes on so does Van Toth, leading you on a trip you won't forget.

Paris Hilton WASTED

Here's the new video for the Manufactured Superstars ft. Paris Hilton track "Drunk Text".  Hilarity ensues as she proclaims, "no one is safe in the twittersphere anymore".  Not a lot of singing going on here but there are mentions of drunk sexting so it gets a general stamp of approval from me!  Enjoy!

GET LOST

Last month we featured a Steed Lord remix of Icelandic band Legend; well now it appears front man Krummi Björgvinsson is splintering off on his own with a new video for his track "The Missing".  Just another example of great choooons coming out of the island nation along with stuff from groups like For A Minor Reflection, Of Monsters And Men, and Krummi's former band Minus.  The video reminds me a lot of the über chic Lana Del Rey clip for "Video Games".  While the lurking drum track compliments Krummi's almost frightening vocal, it stays in tune with the cold, inert feelings that I always associate with life in Reykjavik.  Below enjoy some more tracks from Krummi recent solo production; plus another video after the jump!

Heartbreak Ready to SHAKE the Golden State

Expect VIBRATIONS
This weekend, purveyors of the moombahton sound Mad Decent and Muevelo are teaming up to bring the big man David Heartbreak to the coast.  NorCal gets a dose Friday night and LA will be rocking hard Saturday.  To get everyone ready here are some tracks from the featured DJs including Heartbreak himself.

3 Tracks from 1983

The year that metal forked and pushed it's way into the mainstream had plenty of great head banging monsters.  Here are three of them.

RIP Cliff

Fat Tuesday Sounds

Will Ferrell is the KING of Mardi Gras
What's up party people?  I know folks are getting wild and crazy already but here are a few tunes to get amped on going into the coming Easter season.
Curling (Database Dub Remix) by SYKUR
This dub mix of Icelandic wunderkinds Sykur will lurk it's way into your soul thanks to zealous production from Brazil's Database.
Paul David - Future (Original Mix) by Paul David
Next up is Toronto's own Paul David with a progressive look into the unknown.  His thoughts on things to come?  Listen to find out.
Yuksek - Off The Wall (Brodinski Rmx) by Brodinski
I carried this on my tumblr last week but thought it worthy of rehashing here for those who haven't heard it yet.  Brodinski brings his signature French outlook to this remix of his "friend" Yuksek.
Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know ft Kimbra(Mendez Rework) by Mendez
El Cuco honcho Mendez comes soft and easy on his flip of the vastly catchy "Somebody That I Used To Know".
Dillon Francis - Falling Up by DILLONFRANCIS
Here we have LA party boy Dillon Francis with the lead track off his latest EP Something, Something Awesome.  It's made up of his signature huge sounds but sheds some light on a possible new direction incorporating more and more wild bass sounds and less bleepy arpeggios.
2Deep - Metele Candela (MOOMBAHTON) *New EP Coming Soon* by 2 DEEP
Finally a little more moombahton flavor for you from MTH fav 2Deep.  Really looking forward to seeing him at this months Muevelo featuring David Heartbreak and Sabo.

Heartbreak Explodes with a BOOM!

David Heartbreak Boom! EP from DEFINATE on Vimeo.
At the top of his game and pushing forward is David Heartbreak who's latest EP BOOM is out today on beatport.

The three track release features panty dropping bass-lines accompanying the North Carolina producers signature sound of bleeps, huge kicks, and even more massive synth leads.  My man never disappoints and here we have yet another example of his ever changing, chameleon-esque style.  Support this cat, he'll be making his way to California for two dates--SF and LA--both shows are sure to be sweaty messy fun.  For more info about the Heartbreak kid check out this interview he did with Generation Bass.

Diplo BOUNCING Off The Walls

The latest release from Jeffree's is from Mad Decent head honcho Diplo and is a bouncy tune featuring Nicky Da B.  He's been sitting on this for awhile apparently and the full release comes out on March 3rd but grab the MP3s today.

Doc Adam Sizing Up The Scene

Philosophy major
One of my favorite up and coming producers is this dude Doc Adam who currently resides in my hometown PDX.  He's been chopping up tracks for quite some time now, his early moombahton edits were huge among the movers and shakers in 2010 and he's been pumping out a steady stream of originals lately so we decided to share some with you.  In over a decade behind the decks, this PhD carrying cat has honed in on what it really takes to rock a party.  Catch him as a resident DJ at Portland's infamous TUBE as well as plenty of other gigs slated around the world.
Slow March Forward by docadam
Weigh Up by docadam
These tacks were released after the Doc's "Getting Incredible" mixtape came out and the fans were clamoring for some of his unreleased material.  This dude is such a studio junky I wouldn't be suprised if he had thousands of unreleased tracks lying around.  Three more great tracks after the jump!

Friday Tapes

It's the end of the week and we here at MTH are collectin' a few banging mixtapes to get your weekend kicked off in the right way.  Jam out to these in your pregame tonight or whenever you want to get the party poppin'!

First off is this After $chool $pecial mix by Penthouse Penthouse--Daims & Chrisupreme "under the influence of lean".

Second we have Generation Bass' own DJ Umb going in on this "Transnational Moombahton" mix featuring tracks from Heartbreak, DJ Melo, Sticky K, ETC!ETC!, Sazon Booya, and many more.

Cam Jus' "Notez From The Underground" mix is "...an expression of more of a darker vibe" than his usual bouncy self but if he's moving in this direction, who would want to stop him??

And we finish off with an excellent tape from ETC!ETC! that he mixed for mixmag, peep the interview and mix HERE.  Valentino Kahn, J-Trick, Jay Fay, and Bro Safari are featured among others.

Haters Gonna Hate

Here's Patton Oswalt doing a bit about the things he thinks are bad about hair metal.  And just for him, here's a couple of tracks he refers to for everyone to rock out to!

They Came From The Swamp

Chris Manley, Ben Danner, and Colin Johnson are a trio of Florida producers going by Team Jaguar who have recently made a splash in the moombahton scene.  With upcoming gigs alongside heavy hitters like David Heartbreak, South Rakkas Crew, and LA Riots the fellas are promising "the next 2 months are going to be ridiculous".  Take a second and check out a few choice cuts from their soundcloud page including their remix of gLAdiator's "Brand New" released late last month.
gLAdiator - Brand New (Team Jaguar Remix) by Team Jaguar
Dillon Francis, Will Bailey, Steve Starks - Git Duh Lizard (Team Jaguar Moombahton Bootleg) by Team Jaguar
French Fries and Zombies for Money - One Coconut (Team Jaguar Moombahton Bootleg) by Team Jaguar

3 Songs from 1993

Remember when Michael Jordan retired for the first time?  I vaugely do but I definitely remember these three great tracks.  Mr. Big, Ugly Kid Joe, and Def Leppard just for you.

Big Sound Coming From South America

I was recently turned on to Portuguese producer Pedro Mauricio who has borrowed his name from the Hollywood classic and David Heartbreak moombahcore classic King Kong.  His name implies a massive booming sound and his tracks don't disappoint; from soul to heavy hip-hop to pop flips his skills seem to take a wide breadth into the EDM world.
Lil' Wayne - Lollipop (King Kong ''Thinking About You'' Bootleg) by kkingkong
This is the track that really got my attention.  I was listening to the recently release Moombahluv 3 from Generation Bass and had to nearly stop my car at about 2:30 in to see who and what I was hearing.
Nicki Minaj - Did It On 'Em (King Kong ''Just Shitted On 'Em'' Bootleg) by kkingkong
Here's another Young Money flip this time he takes Nicki Minaj on a jaunt through the electric forest and comes out on the other side bruised and battered.  Two more tracks after the jump!!

A Little Jonny Kwest for your Thursday

As I'm sure you know, we here at MTH are huge supporters of Bmore's finest Jon Kwest.  So today I just wanna blast off a few of his latest tracks we have yet to feature.
Jon Kwest - Shot Caller (new dl link in description) by Jon Kwest
Up first here's a Bmore club troll track that cries out for passionate foot stompage; or possibly a ride through the hood in a lowered wagon with speakers blasting.
Good Love (new dl link in description) by Jon Kwest
Here's a soul inspired jaunt by the moombah maestro, another in a list of classic laid back relaxin tracks.  This song is available for download HERE.
Don Valdez - Cera Caliente (Jon Kwest Remx) by Jon Kwest
This track was a featured remix on Don Valdez' EP out earlier this month that we featured over on the tumblr.  Probably my favorite track off the 8 song release that also carries mixes from Big Makk, Cam Jus, and Obeyah among others.
Jealousy by Jon Kwest
And finally we have Kwest heading back into the footwork region of his production.  Another flavorful lurking drum beat perfect for that stroll down the block on a cold morning.

Really Upset I Missed This

Holy Ship! might have been the most amazing experience of any party animal.  Being that I missed it, seeing this video makes me really sad and wish I would have just dumped the money for the experience.  Big ups to everyone at HARD for putting together such amazing events every year.  Hope to be on the ship next year getting wild and crazy.

That Rainy Day Vibe

As the rain soaks in down in SoCal, I thought these songs might help us all pass the time.  Grab your coat and slicks on your way out the door, lightening storms are predicted for parts of the coast.

Moombahton Massive 12 is TONIGHT

These are the quintessential moombahton parties on a national and international scale and tonight is no exception.  Curator's Nadatrom will again headline their signature event with a little help from the biggest moombahtonistas around, Sabo, Heartbreak, Munchi, and Jen Lasher.  If I lived anywhere on the eastern seaboard I would be making my way to our nations capitol tonight for what is sure to be another amazing MASSIVE.

Still Luvin' on the day after Valentines

Yesterday we featured the finale of the Moombahluv series from Generation Bass' DJ Umb, and we nearly forgot to post this similarly flavored release from Mad Decent's own Dirty South Joe and Philly's Flufftronix.  The third in the Luvstep series, this mix will set the mood for you and your significant other all 365 days of the year.  With over 30 tracks and crazy support from big players in the game, this mix will bring ladies to their knees.  Get with it!

New Sazon Booya feat :DFace

Here's a video preview of the new :DFace and Sazon Booya single "Let It Be" released yesterday.  This track is slammin' and I'd highly suggest checking it out immediately.  2012 is shaping up to be an enormous year for the Booya boys and with :DFace getting more and more exposure with tracks on major compilations, we're sure he'll be picking up plenty of facetime in the scene as well.  Below find a few choice cuts from the New England lad.

Canadian Moombahton Bringing the Heat

Released late last week on Burner Records, A-Mac and Paul David--two moombahtonistas from America's hat--are going all in with the Horizon EP.  The pair of originals along with a remix of the title track by LA kid ETC!ETC! heat up the dance floor and are being fully supported by many within the community.  Get on this stuff ASAP! Check the promo mix by A-Mac below

Also here's the Horizon remix with a free download!

4 Songs From 1984

The year my brother was born was a very influential year in music.  It saw a surge of LA based metal bands break through into the mainstream.  Here are a few tracks we love over here at MTH.

Jay Fay Goes BONKERS

Young Robots released Jay Fay's latest today, the BONKERS EP features Fay's signature drum laden moombahton sounds.  The kid is alright, at 18 this St. Louis youngin' seems to have figured something out and it looks like he's gonna run with it.  With big time support coming from all areas of the movement, expect big things from Jay Fay in 2012.

Just In Time For Valentine's Day

In a day full of releases, one stands out way above the rest.  The final volume of Generation Bass's Moombahluv series, DJ Umb brings us a collection of love infused moombahton hits from some of the genre's biggest producers.  Contributors include Jon Kwest, STLKRFXXX, Mendez, Ben Tactic, Saur, CoreyCorey Haim, and many others.  This highly anticipated release is sure to get you and your Valentine in the mood, check out the preview mix from Umb below followed by download links for this two part gem.

DOWNLOAD SIDE1: LuV DrunK
"LuV DrunK, cause imagine that feeling when u have butterflies in your stomach and you can’t wait to finish work so that you can be with the one u luv and u can’t bear to be without them for even one moment.   You’re joined at the hip and you can see no wrong in your luved one, no matter what they say or do, which football team they support or what music they dig!  That’s being LuV DrunK !"

DOWNLOAD SIDE2: LuVved Up
"LuVved Up, cause you’re you’re sitting together in a cinema, walking in the park or on a beach, holding hands at all times.  The air smells fresh, the sky is clear and the world is a beautiful place.  You have no financial worries, you don’t care about messing up your exams or about being late for work.  But you do care about not seeing or being with the one u luv and not being able to take them out or buy them something nice.   That’s being LuVved Up!"
