MWP 21

Wednesdays are always interesting here at MTH HQ.  Plenty of work to be done, plenty of new music to be heard, plenty of new comics to read!  That's why since February we've been trying our hardest to bring you new music to carry you through to the end of the work week in this thing we call the Midweek Pull.  This week Marvel premiers a pretty absurd crossover called A-Babies vs X-Babies that we're dying to get our grubby little paws on, might I suggest a trip down to your local comic vendor to do the same?  Also, there's some new tracks from the likes of Klever, Neki Stranac, and more dropping on soundcloud that we'd like to share with ya!

Let's start it off with a little moombah flavor from our favorite Serb: Neki Stranac.  The maestro serves up a hyped out flip of Stuka's "Stripper".  FREE DOWNLOAD!

And yeah, we're one week from Halloween so it's about time we infused a little spookiness into our selections.  This one has been "certified jackin" by the powers at be...it's the Mad Villains channeling the Maitland's and it's a FREE DOWNLOAD!

Ryan Marks dropped his Fiji EP on Party Like Us yesterday and it's a foot stomper to be sure.  My favorite remix comes from D!rty Aud!o and is a nice little moombah jaunt.  The ETC!ETC! remix is available for FREE DOWNLOAD...grab the full EP RIGHT HERE.

Our friend in bass: Inflect, recently packed up his stuff and moved from Nebraska to Los Angeles (tough decision I'm sure) and apparently he's enjoying himself because his latest is an ode to his new home.  I can personally attest to the griminess of downtown LA so I think this gritty track is an accurate reflection of that....FREE DOWNLOAD!

How about a moombahton team up of most epic proportions??  DJ Melo edited Sabo and Paul Devro's recently released dub of this Smalltown DJs track and decided to share it with the masses after it's success at the most recent Moombahton Massive in DC.  If you're down with the crew then buy the Sol Selectas release RIGHT HERE.

Err'body knows ATL kingpin Klever can destroy a dancefloor via a set of turntables but my man has been pumping out some killer tuneage of late as well.  Here's a freebie from the folks at Top Billin in support of his latest EP..."Higher" is available as a FREE DOWNLOAD, meanwhile Money Stacks is out now and you can buy it RIGHT HERE.

Sometimes we're all suckers for a little techno am I right??  Especially when it comes from France and ESPECIALLY when it comes from Bambounou.  My main man's remix of Fortune by Darling Farah is a late night escapade not to be missed.  Grab Body from Civil Music RIGHT HERE and grab the remix EP RIGHT HERE.

Speaking of FR, Killtronik recently had a remix contest for their track "Paris La Nuit" and this moombah-flip from The Kid Vicious DIDN'T WIN!!  What a shame...oh well, now it's up for FREE DOWNLOAD so grab it and play the hell outta it.  Super fresh, super light, super airy, super super.

That's all for now folks...we'll be back next Wednesday (HALLOWEEN) for more tracks to keep you company.  In the meantime, get back to work!!!

Don't Be Shy 007 with DISGRACELAND

We're coming back at you again folks with our latest in the "Don't Be Shy" podcast featuring the one and only DISGRACELAND!  My dude joined us from his home all the way in the gloomy UK to impart a little wisdom about his particular brand of deep/techy moombahton.  My main man is on the rise and with a forthcoming single from Diabluma Sound as well as some heaters dropping on his own Scold Recordings, we thought we'd get some stories out of him before he's too big to book!

If you're stoked about the deeper end of the moombah-pool please add my man in all your social circles for daily updates and more:

Just Clownin' Around Really

Out today from Rot10 Musik comes Kid Cedek's Circus Freaks EP; been waiting on this for quite some time and lemme tell ya...totally worth it.  El Presidente Cedek did some Beast Wars-esque fusing of his dirty south roots with modern Moombah plus brought a few buddies along for remixes.  The result is an instant classic in our fickle world of here today gone tomorrow electronic dance music.  Stand outs include the title track (of course), Team Jaguar's remix of "Amplify" and the Aglory remix of "Sientelo".  The bonus remix from Que Serock is pretty damn heavy as well so download that mo-fo RIGHT HERE [pswd: seadix] courtesy of Elektro Mag.

Wednesday Special

Well true believers, it's Wednesday and that can only mean one thing, the return of MTH's midweek pull.  Today marks the launch of the Marvel Now! brand as well as Jonathan Maberry's latest Marvel Universe vs title which will pit the Avengers against his cannibal turned heroes...I'm pretty stoked for it.  So here's some great new music to go along with your reading this week; brand new tracks from Will Bailey, Alex Young, Harvard Bass, and many more so let's jump in and get this party poppin'.

The aforementioned Brit known as Will Bailey kicks us off with a moombahcore remix.  This thing is going crazy right now on the net so why not jump on the bandwagon?!  FREE DOWNLOAD!

And here's a tasty little experiment from LA Yaute...here's hoping the Rolling Stones don't come after him the way they took on The Verve...I doubt it, their lawyers are tired of litigating that mess.  Yet another FREE DOWNLOAD!

Summertime hasn't ended!  If you rock this track on repeat it'll never end...Viceroy appealing to the warmer days with this remix.  Down with it!  Huge beach party track right here...dropping October 30th.

Now for the heavy section of this week's MWP.  Starting off with an absolute dance floor destroyer from Team Jaguar...they might not be the first to sample Alex Murphy but this is definitely a wacky ass shaking way to do so.  FREE DOWNLOAD!

Keep those snares steady rollin', Pyramid Juke coming through with some heavy trap shit.  Maybe one or two too many gun shot samples in here for my taste but I'm appealing to the masses!  Get down!

And we continue with MUST DIE! remixing Nerd Rage.  It's another snare heavy nu-trap style banger but there's something about the vocal sample that really has my head nodding away here in the studio.  Make sure to support the artists and buy this track RIGHT HERE!

And here's a nice little booty from DC native Alex Young who's 15 years of hard life on the streets have heavily influenced his move into the trap game...nah I'm kidding but the kick drum in this SBTRKT remix is pretty massive so I had to include it, plus FREE DOWNLOAD!

SD tech-head Harvard Bass has been pumping out a slew of heavy tracks to set the dance floor ablaze. Here's the A-side to his forthcoming release from Twin Turbo.

Styrofoam cups everywhere!  Two cups and LunyP's got Munchi all skrewed up.  Had to give this one a spin for y'all just for the sheer fun of it...now roll down the windows, open the doors, and coast side to side...sittin' sideways swervin'.  FREE DOWNLOAD!

Closing things out this morning with some vibey stuff.  Terraplén is Daniel Martin, Diego Vainer and Gaby Kerpel and this track is groovy as hell...avid readers of the site know I'm DOWN for some acoustic guitar so this track should come as no suprise to y'all.

Huge remix thanks to the great folks at Zizek...Ursula 1000 with a big remix of Fauna--the original was featured on the awesome comp Future Sounds Of Buenos Aires which I highly recommend picking up--it's a FREE DOWNLOAD! so you know I'm stoked.

That's it for this week, make sure to add us on Facebook and follow our twitter page below and jump over to our soundcloud page to listen to our podcasts!

Feel Good Music

It's past lunch on Wednesday which means we're coasting towards the weekend y'all! Here's a few select jams to keep you company through the end of the work day.

MWP Indian Summer Edition

It's the first week of October and hopefully--for most of you--that means leaves are changing colors, nights are growing longer, and the hunt for halloween costumes has just begun. Out here on the west coast it has been pretty damn hot outside, so much so that August blurred into September and this tenth month of the year seemingly crept out of nowhere to overtake us in our sweaty state. Like the climate, tracks are still coming in hot as ever as we look deeper into the eyes of Autumn and we here at MTH are always eager to share with you what we've found. This week marks the epic conclusion of Marvel's Avengers vs X-Men crossover so here's some tunes from the likes of Drop The Lime, Disgraceland, Riot Earp and more to fill your ears with.

First up,  Dos Lobos' entry into Insomniac's Discovery Project, where they pluck talented up and comers to perform at their festivals.  This entry, as you may have guessed from its eerie nature, is for Escape From Wonderland.

Next, here's another core-leaning moombah-hit, this time from NYC producer Loud Flavor.  The title track from his latest release from Bass Taste, it's some "Wild Bizznizz" indeed...grab the whole single RIGHT HERE.

Philly's finest son, Sköllo with a nice update to the classic "Tarzan Boy"...FREE DOWNLOAD of course so get out your hammer pants and dance your ass off to this at your next house party.

Here's a tasty track forthcoming from Ultra on Drop The Lime's Enter The Nite Versions remix album.  DTL promises it'll be a more "DJ appropriate" retooling of his debut release Enter The Night.

Alright enough of the heavy, dark stuff...how bout a little banda to cheer things up a tad!  Really digging this edit from Sonora, takes me back to alley way BBQs in Long Beach's east side.  FREE DOWNLOAD!

A touch of tech and a real deep bass tone carry us through this next offering from Yung Skeeter; it's a taste of LA funk to set your soul on fire this hot autumn day.  FREE DOWNLOAD!

Fista Cuffs and Majestry teamed up on this track for last year's Sound Of Silence² compilation from Conga Records and now it seems a remix EP may be on the horizon.  Of the 25 or 26 I listened to my favorite has to be this one from Fake Moustache.  Get down!

Some laid back acoustic guitar chops on this moombahsoul remix from Leeway.  The Polish producer finds a nice little sweet spot with José González' cover of "Heartbeats"...perfect cool weather tune.

Riot Earp is TWO FOLLOWERS AWAY from giving this track out for free.  So if you're reading this and not already following the dude on soundcloud please do so for the good of the rest of us!

Had the opportunity to chat with Disgraceland yesterday for our forthcoming episode of the "Don't Be Shy" podcast so I thought I'd share his latest free release.  He's been sitting on this deep-as-hell track for a few months so be thankful he decided to grace us all with it for FREE DOWNLOAD.

A little something for those filthy chicks daggering in their bedrooms.  D-V3KZ sending a shout out to all the sucias out there who may be listening.

Another FREE DOWNLOAD to finish off the set today, this one comes from Mackai who must be quite familiar with the wacky weed.  This late night anthem won't cure your munchies but it'll knock when you throw it on your system for the run to 7-11.

That's it for now, make sure to follow us on soundcloud to catch all our podcasts and mixcloud to listen back to all our radio mixes!  Back next Wednesday with more great new tunes from the Midweek Pull!

Music for the big boned...by, Skinny Friedman

We here have been no strangers to Skinny Friedman's work.  The Young Robots co-founder brought out the street smarts for his debut EP, Fat People On Drugs, out today.  Skinny lists Lil John, David Banner, and Afrojack among other influences.  Been real excited about "Back To The Trap" but "Politickin" also stands out closing out the set.  Be about this release if you're about some late night dark room stuff.
Suport the dude, buy the EP HERE.  Add social media below:

The Return

Following an extended hiatus, we bring you MTH's infamous midweek pull!  Been trolling soundcloud this week and picking only the ripest of the ripe for your listening pleasure.  This week we've got tracks from ESSBEEDEE, Secret Sauce, Bro Safari with ETC!ETC! and more so let's get cracking shall we?
BRO SAFARI and ETC!ETC! with some free tunage...Mendez dropped this back in June at Muevelo and folks went a little loco.  FREE DOWNLOAD.

Here's a jazzy little diddy from Noms. Lovin' this laid back feel, perfect for a cold evening riding the train home.

Friend of the site, Valorous offered up this interesting new tune for FREEEEE last week and I felt compared to share. I believe the Mother Of Dragons would approve.

Here's another laid back tune to sway to; thee Mike B flushed out a pack of elevated tunes over the weekend and this is my fav.

Andrew Sinclair has a forthcoming EP from Think 2wice Records that label head Brent Tactic promises will be very intriguing. If this initial single is any insight I believe he's telling us the truth; here's the Secret Sauce remix. Grab the single RIGHT HERE.

Our buddy Fich aka DJ Apt One is a disco mastermind so when I spied this "Disco Dub" on his soundcloud page I knew it must be shared. His Fich So Saxy EP is available everywhere now, grab this Frank Ocean rework for FREE then grab his commercial release RIGHT HERE.

Been really stoked on Milangeles of late...this dancehall tinged juke remix for Copia Doble Systema is a prime example of the correct ways to use a whistle on a track....BOOM FREE DOWNLOAD.

Die hard readers will understand my love of huge claps and throwback rhythms...this Ben Tactic original has both, thank goodness. Dude is calling this "303" and real producers will get that reference as well. FREE DOWNLOAD

Our friends La'Reda dropped this new single on Monday and it knocks. Support these cats by purchasing the "Synth-Rex" single RIGHT HERE.

This might be the pick of the litter right here folks...something about the soaring 90's-esque vocals that really appeals to my core. I grew up with Snap, La Bouche, and folks like Ace Of Base so I'm always stoked when new iterations of that style show up on my dashboard. Big ups to Brenmar on this one.

The homie David Heartbreak teamed up with Alexandre for this maddeningly deranged remix. Dude is always coming at us with some left field shit and I gotta give him the credit he is due; it's crazy how tight his production has become and how bonkers he's gotten lately on this underground bass sound he's cultivating.

Wrapping things up with this new tune from ESSBEEDEE...apparently Sam is down for some HOVA! Big ups to the Deadly Vipers for releasing the tune, make sure to grab the FREE DOWNLOAD.

That's gonna do it for this week. Hope you all enjoy these tracks, make sure to buy them where noted and download all the freebies at your leisure. If you haven't checked out our latest episode of the "Don't Be Shy" podcast make sure to do that RIGHT HERE, or just head over to the RADIO tab to listen to all our podcasts and mix shows. The midweek pull will return on October 3rd so till then, keep your pants on, be safe, and have a great week!

New Sounds From Boyfriend

Right on the heels of this summer's mega-hit Bashin'Diabluma Sound dropped another soon to be OG release; this time the tunes are coming from our favorite Lithuanian moombahtonista: Boyfriend.  Out today, the Vodka House EP is old fashioned moombahton brought to light.  With top notch production, tight as hell drums, and the Vilnius born producer's signature Euro-stylings this four track EP is a MUST HAVE for any die hard fan of the movement.  Florida bass head Big Makk gives an assist on the ultra-late night tune "6AM" and Nadastrom lends their club tuned ears to a fine remix of the title track bringing everything full circle for this long time contributor to Europe's 108 scene.  Boyfriend's Club Tropicana party has been a mainstay across the pond for the last few years and he will join Nada and co for the continent's forthcoming Berlin Moombahton Massive in December.  Get down to the sounds!

Don't Be Shy 006 with DAVID HEARTBREAK

We've reached our 6th installment in the "Don't Be Shy" interview series and this month Metal Top Hat is proud to welcome a true gentleman, David Heartbreak.  This guy has been influential in the growth of moombahton; in it to win it since the early days, Heartbreak is a pioneer in the moombahsoul/moombahcore sub genres and his work with Munchi will stand as some of the greatest tunes in the young movement's short history.  Heartbreak was featured in Generation Bass' "Moombahtonista" series and has gotten much love from BBC Radio 1, Mixmag, Mad Decent, and a ton of other spots on the net.  Most recently he was featured on the official remix EP for Skrillex and Damien Marley's "Make It Bun Dem"; he has a lot of stuff forthcoming so keep your eye on the dude. [Note: this interview was recorded in the middle of August]

Friday Night SMOOTH Music

I was listening to Steely Dan all the way home tonight and it got me in the mood for some smooth music.  Those soft airy vocals, the subtly haunting lyrics, and vocal perfection were the perfect soundtrack for my dusk commute; it's summertime y'all, let's enjoy it while it lasts...jam on a sexy set of moombahfied smooth classics.

Toddla T gets Agitated!

Ross Orton and Pipes have come together to remix the entirety of Toddla T's latest full length, Watch Me Dance.  The results of this re-imagining is a dark and bass filed journey through bashment, jungle, UK garage and many more maddening dance beats.  Stand out track for me has to be "Watch Me Dub", a big beat flip of the title track featuring an eerie bit-squashed hook along with equally smashed synth leads.  Agitated drops next week but Mixmag was kind enough to share a stream of the album for us all to preview; take 50 minutes out of your day and bump this thing!!

Also, the video for Body Good is pretty fun:

Weekend Goodies

Here we are yet again bunkies, another weekend has found us and we shall rejoice in its coming!  Now it's time to kick off your dusty old work boots, slip on something a little more comfortable and jam out for 2 days and 3 nights of good, old fashioned FUN...I'm not talking about the band Fun, I'm talking about that feeling you get with an ice cold beer in your hand, surrounded by your best amigos, taking in the sun and scantly clad babes on the beach.  That's right!  It's still the summer and a heatwave is upon us so I have sought to bring you a heatwave of amazing mixes to keep you company while you waste away in the sizzling temps this weekend.  Download these suckers and when your friends ask where you got the mix, make sure to point em in the direction of MTH could ya??  Thanks!  Have a safe weekend y'all!!

Super Midweeky

It never ends...some mornings I hope for a reprieve from the dizzying task of compiling this fucking blog but my wishes are never granted.  I'm never blessed with a down server or a compromised system in fact, aside from random soundcloud outages, everything is generally smooth sailings here in MTH HQ--of course now that I've said that I'm sure something catastrophic will happen in the coming weeks.  Alas, I carry on and now that it's Wednesday it is my duty to assuage the masses and deliver some brand spankin' new heavy music from the likes of Major Lazer, Jack Beats, Foamo and many more!!  That's right folks, it's not all moombahton all the time round these parts, we like to shake things up occasionally.

My friends tell me to start things strong and that way people will be compelled to read further, therefore we begin with a B-Side. Out earlier this week on Clockwork's "Titan" single, this bastard of a track boasts a "big badass baseline sound". Great work sir!! Buy the complete Mad Decent release RIGHT HERE.

*NSYNC's self titled debut may be one of the most cherished pieces of my CD collection so when LA DJ/producer Pase Rock put up this flip with a 2 Chainz verse thrown in I was weary to say the least. Upon listening I was pleasantly surprised at how street the five part harmonies sound chopped up.  FREE DOWNLOAD

Here's the Foamo remix of Example's latest single...the album drops in mid-September and this UK jam has got me rocking in the studio this morning. Dig those hi-hats...DIG EM. Check the video for the original RIGHT HERE.

A little moombah magic from Geek Boy; this track is available from The Dankles along with an in depth interview. Check out some older tracks, grab the FREE DOWNLOAD, and get mad info about his live set and more RIGHT HERE.

Fans of the site know I'm really into the deeper side of the moombahton sound so I'm really glad this FREE DOWNLOAD showed up in my dashboard. Fase De Cinco with a super chilled out rework of fallen singer Aaliyah's new track with Drake. BIG.

Gwen Stefani + Diplo = NO MOOMBAH-DOUBT; I've been really feeling this new single from the OC's finest ska-leaning pop act.  Mr. Pentz has been working HARD.  Between Snoop Lion, No Doubt, Major Lazer, RiFF RAFF, his XM/BBC radio shows, and the countless live appearances he puts in, sometimes I wonder if he sleeps at all. Maybe he's got some Nick Fury-esque Life Model Decoys out there helping him out.

New track from French moombahtonista Zee Reach, he's calling it "MoombahRave"...yeah I see it. Not sure about the release details as of yet but I'm sure it's in the works; huge vibes on this one...love those airy stabs.

The massively successful Max Hardcore/Krups single from FL trio Team Jaguar has been remixed!! The pack includes flips from Sazon Booya, gLAdiator, Dooze Jackers, Vass, and this freebie from Sir Charles.  The whole thing drops August 22nd, for now enjoy this free download by clicking RIGHT HERE.

Austrailian duo The Mane Thing coming through with yet another moombahton jam for your listening pleasure. I'm sure they've been playing this out to raucous crowds of late and thought they'd let us all take a listen.

I remember, when Westside! came out I thought I was so awesome for knowing who Dillon Francis was. Now he gets 22k+ plays in 24 hours...DAMN the kid is getting huge--for fucks sake his cat has 3600+ twitter followers! His set at HARD summer was memorable as well so I was really excited to hear his latest collab with UK powerhouse Jack Beats; the result is a bouncy little bit of their wobbled out signature and very very danceable. Buy the whole Careless release RIGHT HERE.

That's it for today.  Make sure to come back daily for awesome new releases and fun stuff but especially every Wednesday when we present the MWP, chalk full of maddening new tunes to satisfy your ever expanding hunger for flavor of the day tunes.  Get with us on twitter, facebook, and soundcloud for EVEN MORE!!

Go As Far As You Wish!

Another awesome free release from Teenage Riot Records, this one from Texan and all around mad man Bird Peterson.  Dude has been refining his dirty south bass sounds for some time and seems to be hitting a certain stride of late; his Drankenstein tapes will surely prove me right in this regard.  Can I Go A Little Further? features the Bird's signature southern stylings and a little preachy mess thrown in for good measure.  Really digging the B-Side as well with the snappy snares and rattled off hi-hat riffs meshing perfectly in this bass heavy drum beat.  DIG IT!!  Previews below.

Are you a fan??  Check out BP in all his social media circles then!

It's About That Time Party People

A few months back, SoCal moombah heads Primetime and D-V3KZ came together on a track and decided it ought to be remixed by the masses.  Thus launched a most heated competition to be included on the forthcoming free EP from these gents, many entered the arena and a select few emerged victorious and are so lain here before you to be judged. (download link at the bottom y'all)

Here's the original...TURN UP THE BASS MOTHA FUCKA!

Mauritzio Sanchez gives it a clean rinsing in the classical moombahton style.

EntransiK gets all trapy with it, slowed down, heavy bass, snazy hi-hats and all.

Fake Moustache shows you don't HAVE to be a hipster to enjoy...but it helps a little.

Caballo from the Tropical Bass blog contributed this drum-laden jam of a remix.

The homie from San Diego, babySTEPS got his track onto the EP...it's loud as hell and a pure shout out to all the rachets out there on the dance floor.

Ronaissance bringing more heavy kicks into this mad house. Plenty of rewinds to bring your head back into the game...YOU THINK IT'S A GAME???

Lastly, (well not really but the last one I can find a preview for) we have this totally excellent flip from The Al Gore Rhythm Method. It's fitting that I include them last as I think this may be my favorite of the bunch. Red and Patrick show that Wisconsin has more than excellent cheese and disgruntled Packers fans, there's apparently some moombahton to be had!! Great work fellas!

In addition to the tracks listed there's a pretty excellent flip from Jonny Chino as well as C.O.D.A. so you should just grab the whole release RIGHT HERE and listen to them all...decide for yourself which you like best!!
