Don't Be Shy 002 with DJ APT ONE

And we're back!  Episode 002 of "Don't Be Shy" features Philadelphia's own DJ Apt One.  He's been in the game a long time partying down with his homie Skinny Friedman as Philadelphianz, he's a founding partner in Young Robots, and one half of RCMP along with Relative Q.  Fich was kind enough to call us up for a little chit chat and what follows is 16 minutes of glory taken directly from that conversation.  Go to the jump for a few choice gems from the man and make sure to check him out on Facebook, twitter, and soundcloud.

That Monday Stuff

You're different, Rashad. You're special.
Gah, the weekend, sigh...is over.  Back to the grind.  Back to the 4:45am alarm.  Back to 8 hour work days and not nearly enough time to relax.  Here at MTH it's back to NEW MUSIC!  Yay!  Does new music make your week start off better??  It does for me!  Kicking things off with a new track from the homies 2 Deep, TYBG.

Here's something a little special from :DFace, it's a peak into the electro/house aspect of his production and as usual Garrett lends his vocal talent to this peak time track. FREE DOWNLOAD!

Sandwich Island Bass is an outfit straight outta Maui, their warm climate perspective fits right in with the tropical feel of the moombah sound and we're glad to feature this killer bass driven track today.

Red from The Al Gore Rhythm Method reached out to me last week and I'm happy he did because this track is super catchy. Grab it for free while there are downloads left!!

New Dillon Francis.

DJEJ just dropped his bootleg of Kid Cedek's "Sientelo", it's a little too late for the remix contest but we think he might have been at the top of the table if he'd have gotten this out in time, check it out.

Here's another free bootleg, this time from DOSLOBOS. He switched it up on us and took Astronomar's Jeffree's release to a different place all together.

Here's a funky feeling track from Riot Earp and Noms; it's fighting music for sure.

Big ups to ETC! ETC! on this dope Major Lazer remix...1000 plays in 120 minutes?!

Yet another strange track for ya here on a Monday! Make sure to check out Javier Estrada coming to Muevelo this May!

Fiona Apple flipped? Sure, why not.

Can't get enough of Neki Stranac lately, here's his contribution to 110BPM Vol. 2 which you can grab for absolutely FREE RIGHT HERE.

Gonna end this week's post with a couple of pop reworks, starting off with Loud Flavor's remix of the Diplo produced "Climax".

And finally we have a Gym Class Heroes remix--never thought I'd be giving these dudes press but PrimeTime stepped up to the plate and I'm really digging the drum work he's done setting this track to the 108 dembowed out moombah-style.

Alright y'all that's all for today, hope you're Monday goes extremely well and we'll see you Wednesday with more and more and MORE new music. PEACE!

Happy B-Day to the Space Ace!

Ace Frehley turned 61 today...damn that fool has been rocking for a LONG ASS TIME so we're gonna pay tribute to some of our favorite Ace tracks. Get on down!!!

Flubba riffing on a dead OS

These two tracks from Flubba are from a forthcoming release to be entitled, Command Prompt but I just had to share them with you IMMEDIATELY.  I remember the good old days of logging into windows via DOS so when we finally upgraded to Win98 it was like the most amazing thing ever...you mean I can have 28.8 kbps downloads???  FINALLY.  But seriously folks, that was a great time, before the Facebook overload began, before MySpace even, but right in the KaZaA, napster, limewire hayday.  Good times.  These two tracks are reminiscent of those early days of music piracy so I suggest you sit back and jam on them while you think back to simpler times, before everyone and their dog had cell phones and webpages...but I digress...

Check out this dude Flubba in the following locales:

Read All About It...actually naw just listen

Our favorite Lithuanian moombahtonista is back again with a two track EP titled EXTRA EXTRA out today on Big 'n' Hairy Records.  Boyfriend never disappoints unlike some people's significant others I'm sure and these tracks will suit any mood you are in.  Great late night music right here so go on and support the homie by buying these tracks RIGHT HERE!  It's only $4!!  PS there's an awesome BIG BUDGET music video to accompany "Random Story", the visual effects will blow your mind.

You Know What Time It Is

Aw shucks, it's Friday yet again and the weekend is coming on strong!  Bout ready to get the hell outta dodge and sit in the sun for two and a half days not thinking about anything.  Per usual, I've been compiling mixtapes all week to dump all over you guys so get ready for the PAIN.  This week we've got stuff from the homie Valorous, Lightning Eyez new persona DOPETOPIA (wonder what he's implying with that name), as well as the usual heavy hitters, D-V3KZ, King Kong, and many many more so let's get into it!!

Support this mix!! Trying to get ole Jonny onto the BIG STAGE!  CLICK LIKE!

BONUS!!!  A couple weeks ago the OG's NADASTROM had a guest spot on London's KISS FM with host Sinden so y'all should check this shit out RIGHT HERE!!

That's about it for today y'all...have a most excellent and SAFE weekend.  Enjoy these tunes and party on!

Midweek Gathering

Hooray!  Soundcloud has returned and so too have we here at MTH with our midweek picks of the best of what we've been hearing.  Lots of cool stuff today from the likes of David Heartbreak, Mendez, Neki Stranac, and more so lets stop the lolly-gagging and blast some tuneage! Let's kick things off with a super chill, "halftime edit" of Major Lazer's latest "Get Free" from the one and only Cousin Cole.

Munchi showing much love for this latin ass shaker from D-V3KZ so I figured I'd follow suit. Not much of a moombah blog if we don't do EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS right?

Here we have DJ Melo taking us on a less than bumpy ride through the galaxy. Really digging his latest stuff on his new soundcloud page. WHATUP FAM??

This track from King Kong is the theme music for something called Off/cina which I am too lazy to dive further into, if you're curious HERE IS THE SITE. This shit is smoooooooth and I like it.

This remix comes straight outta Israel from that dude SaBBo and is available for FREE from Generation Bass. Check out their write up of the Sobrando release HERE.

Phi Unit reworked this Toddla T track and it's a FREE DOWNLOAD.

Another flipped out moombah-saur from DC's own DJ Madd OD, gotta give love to the big homie, check out his latest mixtape "La Selva" RIGHT HERE.

El Cuco boss Mendez just dropped a four pack of YMCMB boots.  Grab them all RIGHT HERE.

Another fucking track from Neki Stranac, he's untouchable at this point. Be on the look out for his next hit, dropping on the 110BPM Vol. 2 release early next week.

This lurker comes courtesy of Nacey and is straight up MOBBING music. Love the lag in the drums and the far off sirens, makes me feel like I'm running from the cops on a dark night in the LB.

Last but certainly not least we have this new Skrillex chop from the dog David Heartbreak. He and Craze reworked 7 "Loc'd Out" tracks and you can grab them all RIGHT HERE.

Got a special request from the DVR folks to give this track a little "bump". Nothing like some original moombahton to get me motivated, we featured this track and the entire Slo Yo Roll release last week.

Well that'll do it for us again this fine hump day. Time to get back to real work, jam to these tunes, support the artists as always and we'll see you Friday with a fresh pack of mixtapes to get the weekend off to a fine start!

Soundcloud is Down so LETS ROCK!

Woke up to this on soundcloud...so much for getting the midweek dump up!  So instead how about some mother fucking metal?!?!  Tons after the jump.

Ra Cailum coming back at you on Think 2wice

The Chimbus EP, out next week on Think 2wice Records, is a slight departure from Ra Cailum's previous work with Mapzzz.  It's just as strange and alluring though with the titular track weaving odd drum patterns into a memorizing beat that will keep your head nodding for days to come.  The other two original tracks continue the theme of dance floor oddity quite well and the EP closes with a remix from current moombah-buzz artist Astronomar.  You won't have to think twice (pun intended) about picking up this four track delight, check out the previews below and make sure to pick it up when it drops next week.

MORE MORE Talk Box Love

Let's face it, 10 or the top 11 songs featuring the illustrious instrument known as the Talk Box feature the one and only Roger Troutman (RIP) at the helm. So here are 5 tracks to honor the man, the myth, the legend.

MORE Talk Box Love

Y'all like Talkbox??

RIP Roger Troutman. Heard some talk-box on the radio coming into the studio and thought I'd pose the question to y'all...what you think?? Is this shit rocking?

AGLORY Bringing the MAYHEM from FR

Just what you need, a slap in the face from a couple of Frenchmen.  Rot 10 Musik released the Mayhem EP this morning from Parisian duo AGLORY and it's filled with latin infused moombah-love.  Just the right amount of squeaks, squeals, and bleeps to keep any run of the mill EDM fan happy and plenty of bouncy off-time hand drumming to keep the old school heads appeased.  Give us more French kuduro!!  These cats know what they're doing and this release further cements the global moombahton movement as a force to be reckoned with.  Buy this sucker on beatport RIGHT HERE and support great music.

Fresh Monday

why they call you New-New?
So it's Monday morning, my face is still a tad bit numb, I'm about to pop a vicoprohin and eat some eggs but I wanted to get this post up before I bounced for work.  Hope y'all had a wonderful holiday weekend and are ready to get back to the grind.  I'm not quite ready but the week is not waiting on me to get rolling so here we go!  Starting this bitch off with freshness from the PHX king Pickster One; keep scrolling for more from the likes of David Heartbreak, Flubba, Wes De Graaf, and the great and powerful Munchi who seems to be turning more and more HEAVY METAL which I realllllly dig.

DVR Bring Out The 'A' Game

One of my all time favorite No Limit Records tracks was by a young man named Mac and entitled, "Slow Ya Roll".  Now while this record may have been over looked by many, it's catchy hook and eloquent delivery peaked my interest as a young hip hop aficionado.  So when this new comp from Deadly Viper Recordings showed up on my FB wall it took less than a millisecond for me to get working on this post.  Show these cats some LOVE y'all!  With hand picked tracks from the likes of DOSLOBOS, D-V3KZ, Digital-T, and TEKNiCOLOR this FREE set of well produced gems will likely peak your interest this "holiday" weekend.  So Slo Yo Roll son and get to downloading!

Mixtape Friday

Y'all didn't think I'd let these tight ass braces and getting my wisdom teeth yanked stop me from laying down the law on this week's mixtapes did you??  Well if you ever doubted me then shame on you; I live, eat, sleep, and breath to bring you the hottest stuff I can find and it just so happens I woke up thinking about mixtapes.  Now since I'm a lazy bastard and these pain meds have me on a good one I'm just gonna toss these tapes out there for y'all to catch.  So bump this shit, supports these DJs and have a fantastic weekend. Let's start things off with all of Rot10's mixes from their Moomba+ takeover last week.

Face Full Of Metal

Today for the second time in my life I am donning braces and yes, I'm a grown man with crooked molars. So in honor of this amazingness thought I'd post some METAL to rock you off your ass! I'll try to keep the braces talk to a minimum in the future but don't jump all over me if I can't help myself. \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/

Wednesday Round-Up!

The week is bumbling along yet again and here we are to bring you our weekly selection of gems that have come crawling to our soundcloud door.  All the usual suspects are involved yet again and my braces are starting to hurt so I don't feel like giving much intro to these songs so just listen to them all and download the ones that are freeeeeeeeeee!  Without further ado, this week's picks!

Thursdays Are For Covers...GN'R Edition

Given Axl's statement yesterday and today being Thursday, I felt like it would be awesome to feature some of my favorite covers from the controversial LA band. BAM!

Nicos Gun...locked and loaded

Next week Young Robots will unleash the latest from synth pop act Nicos Gun.  The We Could Die single features some of Philadelphia's finest remixers taking a stab at this throwback sound.  The original makes me wanna get behind the wheel of a blood red t-top Camaro and haul ass down PCH with bleached blonde babes by my side.  My fav remix of the pack has to be DJ Apt One's Disco Dub, the funky drum beat has got my toe tapping away and I'm about to break out in full on dance once the bass slaps its way into the grove.  This thing hits digital platforms on April 17th so make sure to grab a copy as this will be the perfect edition to any summer party mix you'll be putting together in the near future.

GN'R Fans are in for a Shock

Since the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame announced in September of last year that Guns N' Roses would be included in its list of 2012 inductees, fans have speculated about the possibilities of the so called Appetite-era members reuniting on stage for one blow out performance.  Well ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't already heard, Axl Rose is putting all those hopes to sleep; in a letter to the Hall (along with the fans and "to whom it may concern") Rose stated yesterday:
I won't be attending The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction 2012 Ceremony and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N' Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
This follows weeks of speculation that somehow, no matter what the odds, all parties could set aside the past and make a few million fans long forgotten dream come true.  Wait, did you guys forget this is Axl Rose??  I too had such hopes but in the back of my head knew it would never come true.  In his letter Axl states, "This decision is personal."  I LOVE that!  Lots of friends have called me a fool but to me GN'R IS Axl; so while loyalties are spread between the original members who I also adore, to me personally Axl can do whatever the fuck he wants to.  The man is a genius!  There are glimpses of his psychosis around every corner but I guess that comes with the territory.

GN'R in it's current incarnation is still out playing shows so I side with Axl in his decision to remain absent from the R&RHOF; I agree with him that the Hall (and a lot of fans) are just forgetting the past and completely denying the present.  Do you really think Ron Thal or Buckethead or even Richard Fortus would be anything but a side note in whatever unceremonious plaque or exhibit the Hall enacted?  So while folks are out there criticizing Axl for destroying the band's history or legacy or whatever they wanna call it, to me he's standing up to protect it.  Say what you will about GN'R in 2012 but this band still rocks sold out show after sold out show so I may be among a small crowd of people supporting his decision but I will stand my ground with Axl.

Midweek Pull

A "pull" refers to a service offered by most comic shops where they'll set aside all the titles you're interested in as they are released so you don't necessarily have to come in every Wednesday; your precious issues will always be waiting for you behind the counter.  For those in the know this can be very helpful as particular books will certainly sell out if you are like me and get lazy and/or forget to hit the shop when a popular title is released.  In the case of MTH's Midweek Pull we're taking on the role of the local comic vendor and doing all the work for you; all you gotta do is come on down and hear the hottest tracks of the week.  This week I'm super swamped in the studio so I don't have time to breakdown each pick so just take my word for it and listen to them all you bastards!  I'm doing all the work here and getting no love!!  Listen damn you!!

Don't Sleep On Cy Kosis

This dude's been on my radar for a few months now and lemme tell you this, his sound is BIG.  After hearing a few huge remixes and his feature on Jon Kwest's WMC comp last month we here at MTH felt it necessary to contact the dude about some new tuneage.  And he happily obliged!  So check out this mini-interview with Cy Kosis and peep his latest tune below.

8 Songs from 1981

It's about to get real heavy in here. It was the first year of Reagan's presidency and metal was on the rise. Here a four tracks to remind us what 1981 was all about

FOUR MORE AFTER THE JUMP

Need Anything?? How about some FREE Tunes?

Deadly Viper Recordings is offering up yet ANOTHER wonderful free EP fully of totally original moombahton jams.  Today's release is from Swiss producer and moombah aficionado LA Yaute who lends his tender stylings to this laid back collection of jams.  Fav track for me is "Explosion" featuring a lurking synth lead reminiscent of some of Kavinsky's classic driving tunes from the recent past.  Bass drum driven and minimally built these five tracks are great building blocks to any summer party you'll be rocking whether that be on a patio somewhere or in your own mind so download this thing ASAP and make sure to get with the DVR crew on twitter and soundcloud for more and more free tunes in the coming months.

KISS on DWTS Tonight

Well, hell may have frozen over because tonight KISS is playing "Dancing With The Stars". This probably infuriates some of the elder statesmen in the Kiss Army but I think it's a positive step for the...aw hell I can't even finish that sentence. THEIR DOING IT FOR MONEY!!! Good for them, make another $100 million before they go to rest in their custom built Kiss coffins. In honor of this monstrosity we're showcasing some tracks of their so-called disco record Dynasty. ENJOY!

Monday Jump Off

why they call you new-new?
My oh my, the weekend flies by far to quickly lately and we've landed yet again here in the studio digging for some fresh tracks to get your week rolling.  I always wanna just keep hitting that snooze button on a Monday morning especially when it's half past four and I've gotta drive 30+ miles into work.  But now I'm wide awake and ready to give you some special stuff so lets get it going!

This track is coming from the dude DJ Melo from an apparently new soundcloud page but regardless of where it's posted, this sucker is classic Melo through and through.  Love the latin hook that drops into bleepy, bass driven madness.  LETS GO!

This special ReKwest dropped over the weekend and I couldn't wait to blow it up.  My fondness for this DC native knows little bounds especially when it comes to his moombahsoul stylings. So keep pushing my dude, everything you put out is on FIRE.

Next up a pair of remixes from the Bromance Records crew.  G.Vump and

Gesaffelstein going in deep on these ones.  They're taking on Lana Del Rey in a contest to see who is the most hip and IMHO the frenchmen take the cake.  Lending their signature styling to her soft vocal performance is just enough to get my feet shuffling here on a lazy Monday morning.

This one is perplexing.  I first came across the talented DJR when he teamed up with the homies 2Deep on their Otra Noche release and I must say, this new track is pretty impressive.  I enjoy how he says FU to any sort of template and just builds this beat into a monster at his own pace.  ¡DALE!

Neki Stranac...what more do I have to say here??  Every track I come across by this cat is absolutely bonkers.  So glad to keep finding more and more heaters from the Serbian genie to blow up my speakers.

Here are a couple from the President of Rot 10 Musik, first up is Kid Cedek's contribution to last month's Winter Of Moombahton compilation.

And here we have the winner of the Kid's "Sientelo" remix contest, AGLORY.  Check out the rest of the winners HERE.

You know I GOTTA represent for the kids 2Deep.  The LA duo is at it again, this time teaming up with Get Ghost for a slammin' beat that'll get your head nodding.  They seem to be getting down with the core shit and you know I like it heavy.

The aussie madman J-Trick coming at us all with some more free tunes, this time he's merging Gabba with his signature blend of moombah.  Squeaky as hell with a heavy ass bass, that's how he rolls and we here at MTH respect that fully.

Oh man, I wasn't sure what to think of this Selena track from DJ Madd OD, but then I hit play and immediately was nodding my head along with it.  Love these laid back 80's feel type tracks once they get super dembow'd out so big ups to the dude!

Here's something a little wild.  Not really sure where the inspiration for this "Congo Safari Remix" comes from but I for one would like to tip my cap to GAYMISTERIO for going out on a limb with this version of Diplo's "Express Yourself".  Nothing like a little crazy music to get you up and about on a Monday so pump this one and piss off your neighbors as you're getting ready to start your week.

Heartbreak promises this will be his final trap bubblin' track and we'll hold him to his word.  Everyone knows this dude loves experimenting with any and all genres so we applaud him for dipping his quill into this dirtified style and we'll gratefully post this sucker here for all to enjoy.
That's gonna do it for today's newness, wanna thank all the featured artists for continuing to pump out the jams for us to rock along to.  I hope this helps you shake the weekend funk off you!  PARTY ON!
