New Sounds From Boyfriend

Right on the heels of this summer's mega-hit Bashin', Diabluma Sound dropped another soon to be OG release; this time the tunes are coming from our favorite Lithuanian moombahtonista: Boyfriend.  Out today, the Vodka House EP is old fashioned moombahton brought to light.  With top notch production, tight as hell drums, and the Vilnius born producer's signature Euro-stylings this four track EP is a MUST HAVE for any die hard fan of the movement.  Florida bass head Big Makk gives an assist on the ultra-late night tune "6AM" and Nadastrom lends their club tuned ears to a fine remix of the title track bringing everything full circle for this long time contributor to Europe's 108 scene.  Boyfriend's Club Tropicana party has been a mainstay across the pond for the last few years and he will join Nada and co for the continent's forthcoming Berlin Moombahton Massive in December.  Get down to the sounds!

And WE'RE BACK!

That's right!!  Your favorite heavy music blog is back in action; sorry for depraving you last week but when it comes to America...we here at MTH celebrate heavily.  So I was gone for most of last week giving good ole lady liberty a holiday she'll never forget, happy 236th birthday USA!  Now now now, there's tons of catching up to do so today I'm just gonna throw caution to the wind and blast out all the tracks I've missed in the last 12 days!  No talk, just rock.  So get on down to some of these and keep coming back because we'll keep bringing the newest of the new your way.  On to the jams!!!  New stuff from Pickster One, BIG MAKK, Aglory, Gesaffelstein, Aylen, babySTEPS, SAUR, and many many more...here WE GO!

New Music Time!

Monday morning comes with a few connotations...an early wake up call for sure--especially after a long weekend of raging--as well as the dreaded first work day of the week.  But lucky for you, Monday morning also means new music from your friends here at the MTH blog.  We've been on the hunt for tracks since last week and are dying to drop them on you, now that it's Monday and I'm fresh as hell in the studio here we go!  This week new stuff from MoonDoctoR, Loud Flavor, DJ Melo and more.

First up, here's an edit by the one and only JFK of MSTRKRFT. This dude is the chopping expert and he proves it time and again, this time flipping Autoerotique's latest, "Roll The Drums". Make sure to grab the EKG EP RIGHT HERE

Yellow Claw are a trio of producers coming out of Amsterdam that you should get to know. There stuff is a little on the wonky side, which is mainly why I'm so drawn to it I guess; check out this remix of their countrymen the Partysquad.

Now for the soul section of today's tracks, starting off with Loud Flavor's latest rework, this time my man Jeff takes on buzzcore sanger Frank Ocean and gives it the 108 treatment. Something about soft keys that work so perfectly for moombahsoul...

This track was brought to my attention via my inbox and I'm really happy dude sought me out cause this thing is dripping with steez and I'm more than willing to drop it on you this morning. Kadkad working the soul out of Justin Martin.

Don Valdez is another name you should get to know, in case you didn't already that is. His latest release, the Burqueño EP is out now and you can grab it RIGHT HERE

Now onto the hood shit...LeDoom and Vegas Banger going mad right here with their rework on Kanye's "Mercy". Huge bass on this one.

Our homeboy Jamaal has been putting out consistently heavy duty tracks and we always wanna show him mad love. Check out Cy Kosis' latest track y'all...the kid's got some talent.

Oh my, you know I gotta show some SERIOUS love to the PHX fam. Love waking up to free DLs from the homie DJ Melo, this guy puts out some top notch stuff and he's a legend in the movement. Speaking personally, the homie Pickster is a cool cat, the Gunslingaz killed it at Muevelo last week and I've got extra special stuff from them coming before the end of the month so watch out.

Damn, another heater just dropping into my mail. This is a month old at this point but, still worth blasting out to y'all. There's still a few downloads left so grab it while you can and let Kaptain know where ya found him!

Closing it out this morning, a new track from MoonDoctoR...super glitchy bass track with extra hood pads throughout. This dude is on some other level stuff with this one, be about it ASAP.

Groovy Groves

If you've read this blog before then you know I have an appreciation for the soulful side of moombah.  You'll also more than likely be aware that I am an even bigger fan of the "old school" moombah-heads out there; of this short list there are a few people who rest atop.  Obviously purveyors like Nada, Munchi, and David Heartbreak have a certain place in any fan's heart but I'd say relaxing slightly below these "big three" for me are the two gentlemen responsible for this new free compilation.  Jon Kwest and Pickster One are names any MTH reader should be quite familiar with; their tunes have graced these hallowed pages since near the inception so it should surprise none of you that I'm going to hype the living shit outta their latest collaboration, Sex Tape.  This is volume 1 of what I hope will be a vast collection of expressive jams known as the Soul Series.  Download it RIGHT HERE.

These tracks don't disappoint; Kwest takes the lead off spot--not surprising, he was a huge part of the early innovations in moombahsoul with his contributions to Heartbreaks initial three comps in the movement.  The PHX don Pickster One grabs the baton and leisurely cruises down the back stretch with his flip of Lynae's soul lifting vocal for "Never Forget".  Of this release Pickster told me:

"The beautiful thing about Moombahton is that there is so much room for all these different styles within the genre. The sexy Soulful side of Moombah held a big part of the genre's development in its early stages. Me and Kwest are just trying to keep that side of things going."

Also featured on (as stated earlier) this freshman offering of the Soul Series is FL moombahtonista Big Makk who brings his well trained ear to the party with the lurky and yet somehow danceable original "What You Need".

The release closes with two more tracks from the stewards of soul (Kwest & Pickster) and leaves me longing for many more volumes to come (Pickster's "Lovely Day" remix will certainly be a dance floor jam in the coming months).  With the summer eagerly awaiting our arrival, I foresee many pool parties and patio jam sessions taking place with this and the future releases as soundtrack; I for one look forward with glee to the icy cocktails that will surely go along with these siorées.

Midweek Drops

Here we are yet again at the midpoint of the week and we're ready to unleash a little funk on your hump day.  It looks to be a sunny rest of the week for all us SoCal folks so I hope for your sake it's the same wherever you're reading this from.  This week MTH's got 7 new tracks to get you nodding your head at your desk, it's about that time to start thinking about the weekend y'all.  So without further ado...

First up is a bleepy moombahton jam from DJEJ.  He says he's been heavily influenced by Sazon Booya and you can hear it in this sucka.  Love the raucous crowd thrown in for effect.

Next we have the Belle Star classic given the über modern moombah flip by the dude Zee Reach.  This is a great update of what has been and will continue to be a house party staple.
BIG MAKK - Shake Dat by BIGMAKK
And here we have Orlando's finest, BIGMAKK flipping Sean Paul's "Shake That".  Another great update for the modern audience who still appreciate that ragga feel when they hit the club.

This is a preview of a new Digital T track coming in April on Deadly Viper Records and it's laid back feel is a great mid-set slow down for everyone to catch their breath.  Diggin' it.

Now here's two remixes of the MRTN track "Slow".  Top Billin had 81 submissions for their remix competition and this one from Jason Kid (not the baller) took home the silver medal but I'm really loving the 80's vibe so I'm featuring it here along with the super dope radical JayyFresh remix.
