Cruising the Tube with New Wave 4 from Moomba+

Like Kelly Slater or Rob Machado or countless other surfers, it seems Moombahton again is riding a slow breaking wave to glory.  The fourth installment of the New Wave Of Moombahton series has fallen into the well suited hands of Moomba+ and the team has compiled a pretty spectacular group of established and emerging talents to grasp the helm of the 108BPM sword and strike down the enemies amongst us.  From solidly engrained producers like Cy Kosis, TEKNiCOLOR, and Sin Diesel who's track reminds us all that moombahton "ain't goin' nowhere"; to new talents like Drop That Cow!, Rotten Ralphie (Rot10 Musik founder), Foxsky, and Cliché who's deep cut "Bird's Eye" is probably my favorite of the entire comp.  Not only does The New Wave Of Moombahton IV showcase the modern sound that's been steadily developing within the movement, it harkens back to the dembow'd rhythms of old with tracks like "Bounce" from Beat Down the Kid and "La Moombah Le" from CMC505 & SK-ONE (a talented duo from New Mexico).  A well rounded edition to be sure and of course made available absolutely free RIGHT HERE from Tony and the kind soldiers at Moomba+.  Make sure to grab it and peep the tracks below.

Wednesday! Wednesday! Wednesday!

Oh me oh my!  Here we are again ladies and germs, the week is half way through so it's that time once more for our fancy-dancy midweek pull!  This week I'm celebrating the fact that I'm still on vaca, enjoying the rainy ass weather of the PNW for now...oh and did I mention I flubbed my press credentials for EDC by planning my vacation for the same weekend?  Wow, really smart dude...yes I know but alas we must push forward...onward and upward to the latest and greatest that soundcloud has to offer!  Today we have some new tracks from Kid Cedek, Steed Lord, Dos Lobos and more so let's get cracking y'all!

Let's get over the hump with a little 5kinAndBone5...this track is a tad strange, hence the tag "Alien Garage"...plenty of wubs to make me happy enough to share it though so check, check it out!

Next I've got some techy-bass from my MAIN man Bambounou...lovin' the whistle work on this remix for Voltron.  Make sure to grab this full release from Discobelle Records out in two weeks!

Normally I'm not too excited about vocal mixes of moombahton beats, sometimes it can just get too darn busy, but this track from Smash and Grab is an exception. Really diggin' the live instrument work which allows me to tolerate the so-so verse section.  Grab it HERE.

Now something from the homies Dos Lobos...this new remix is a rough and tumble affair, which I always dig. Heavy drums mixed with a funky ass break down about halfway through makes for a real winner.

And now...how about a double dose of trapshit? First off is one from the badest dude from Wisconsin...TEKNiCOLOR. He spammed the hell outta FB over the last 22 hours so I figured I may as well applaud his efforts by taking a listen and by george! This shit ain't bad AT ALL...now you try.

Follow that up with Rot10 Musik's acting Prez Kid Cedek...he's giving this track away in celebration of hitting 3k likes over at his facebook page. If you haven't already, go ahead and add to that total so we can get another giveaway hopefully at 5k!

El Nomada hooked me with his Bub-Rub track a couple of weeks ago so I'm always giving a listen to his stuff now and this one has the four elements I look for: Weird Shit, a heavy kick drum, some originality, and strange bass sounds.

Last up is another hot remix from our LA-via-Iceland friends Steed Lord. MEGA really cooked up something special for this mix of their latest single, Precognition. Grab the full release RIGHT HERE.

That's gonna do it for us for this Wednesday. If you're lucky you'll get your mixtapes for the first time in 3 weeks this Friday. If I'm rained in then I'll for sure do a massive post for you, if it's nice you won't be so lucky. LATER.

QUICK ADD:

2DEEP giving away a quick 108 edit for y'all...check them out next Friday (June 15th) at their monthly residency Muevelo with the AZ Gunslingaz (DJ Melo, Mendez, Riot Earp) as special guests this month.

Fresh Monday

why they call you New-New?
So it's Monday morning, my face is still a tad bit numb, I'm about to pop a vicoprohin and eat some eggs but I wanted to get this post up before I bounced for work.  Hope y'all had a wonderful holiday weekend and are ready to get back to the grind.  I'm not quite ready but the week is not waiting on me to get rolling so here we go!  Starting this bitch off with freshness from the PHX king Pickster One; keep scrolling for more from the likes of David Heartbreak, Flubba, Wes De Graaf, and the great and powerful Munchi who seems to be turning more and more HEAVY METAL which I realllllly dig.

DVR Bring Out The 'A' Game

One of my all time favorite No Limit Records tracks was by a young man named Mac and entitled, "Slow Ya Roll".  Now while this record may have been over looked by many, it's catchy hook and eloquent delivery peaked my interest as a young hip hop aficionado.  So when this new comp from Deadly Viper Recordings showed up on my FB wall it took less than a millisecond for me to get working on this post.  Show these cats some LOVE y'all!  With hand picked tracks from the likes of DOSLOBOS, D-V3KZ, Digital-T, and TEKNiCOLOR this FREE set of well produced gems will likely peak your interest this "holiday" weekend.  So Slo Yo Roll son and get to downloading!

With this Easter/Passover weekend rapidly approaching it's time yet again for MTH's weekly mixtape drop.  This week's selections include GTA's forthcoming "Speak Up" tour preview mix as well as tapes from the likes of Mojo Jones, Sazon Booya, (thee) Mike B, and The Partysquad.  So download these while you still can and blast them from that Bose iPod dock that's collecting dust in the corner of your bedroom because it's time to RAGE!

Monday Newness

why dey call you new-new?
Guess what?  It's Monday which means I gotta go back to work.  For those of you who don't realize this, I don't do anything on the weekends.  The weekend is for reading comics, catching up on TV, hanging with the fam, and raging.  That's why everything I post gets done Mon - Fri; now some of you may frown upon that and say, "Ted, new shit hits on Saturday and Sunday man!  Don't sleep on it!"  So to those of you who think along those lines I say, Fuck You.  I need my weekends to relax and the world ain't gonna stop just because I take some time for myself to catch up on my pull list.  So anyways, let's end this rant with a nice selection of some new tunes to get the week started off right!

I know I'm laggin' on this Sazon Booya but since it's still sitting on my favs and hasn't been throw on the site yet I say, "better late then never!" Most folks are late to this moombah party anyway so fuck it.

As of posting there are 9 downloads remaining on this re-working of the George Llanes Jr. classic so y'all better hustle up and get one! It's coming on 12" soon enough for you "real" DJs out there.

This DOSLOBOS jam is coming straight off Ninthwave Records' Moombahton Nation II release which hit beatport TODAY.  Face it, you don't have anything better to spend your $13 on.

This track is just pure fun. Big thanks to JayFunk for putting a smile on my face on this morning.

This was the first single off Slachtofbronx' new full length, Dirty Dancing, out now!!

From Rot 10 Invades Miami Vol 2 here's another hot track from Guapo Feo. Although his name may imply ugliness I must say, this track is SMOKIN'!

And here's the latest from SD moombah-maestro babySTEPS. He was amped that I posted his Otra Noche remix last week so I thought I'd give him a little more love for his efforts.

The cats over at Deadly Vipers have been pushing a lot of fire in my direction lately and this moombah-stomp track is no exception. When it hits the 0:53 mark get ready to grab your head in disbelief.

Suprise! More heat from Phoenix; Riot Earp's Honey EP is a pleasant surprise. Although I expect nothing less from this dude, it's always nice when someone exceeds all expectations.

Thank you to Neki Stranac for bringing the South American vibes to the party. This track should be enough to get that older looking couple out on the dance floor with it's straight samba feel. Hopefully they'll pull some of the cuter young chicks on the floor in solidarity with their lack of giving a fuck about what others think of their amazing skill set. I had more to say but I feel like shutting up now and getting to work already. Have a most excellent Monday and enjoy all these new tunes!
