Night-crawl

Kavinsky's latest release is now available on iTunes...I suggest you go grab it.  In the dead man's signature synth laden style, Kavinsky does not disappoint.  The EP features remixes from Jackson, Breakbot, and Dustin N'Guyen (which I'm featuring below).  Bonus remix after the jump.

Kavinsky - Nightcall (Dustin N'Guyen Remix)

Lost & Found

I've sorta been out of my element for these last two weeks due to the holidays and the heavy amount of drinking that accompanied them so I thought I'd take a few seconds and throw up (pun intended) some remixes that I've been blasting lately.

The first comes from Icelandic powerhouse Steed Lord's Truth Serum Remix Project; Gingy attacks Kali's soaring vocal to deliver this twisted dance floor destroyer.

Steed Lord - Take My Hand (Gingy Remix)

Second we've got Don Diablo bouncing his way through Larry Tee.

Larry Tee - Let's Make Nasty (Don Diablo Remix)

Finally, two producers we're hoping to hear a lot of in 2010, it's Arcade remixing Jay Weed.

Jay Weed - Asimbonanga (Arcade Remix)

(This track is featured on the BeBup Episode #1 compilation EP which you can find HERE.  Best go pick this EP up, it's on FIRE!)

Sin Lugar A Douster

Nothing gets me in the mood quite like some heavy tribal drum beats; pulsating, bass-filled dance hall wreckers that push ravers to the limit.  And one guy who seems to have this down is Douster.  The Agentine bass baron's latest release, Triassic is filled with just such jams for all you sweaty little hard-bodies.  Fresh off a great show last week at Paris Social Club, look for some heavy duty stuff coming from Douster in 2010.

Douster - Ladinian

Classixx - I'll Get You (Douster Remix)

(Note: this remix reminds me of middle school slow dances)

Monday Evening Tracks-5 Words Or Less

I feel like I say this every week, but work seems to be getting increasingly busy due to the holiday crunch so tonight I just wanna throw up some jams for you without going into a lot of detail.  So here are 3 tracks described in 5 words or less.

Frank Lucas would be proud:
Jayou - Blue Magic

Send forth the night, ladies:
Peaches - I Feel Cream (Larry Tee & Alexander Technique Blogula Rmx)

Heavier than flatbed dump-trucks:
Pendulum - Showdown (Excision Remix)

Check out Jayou, Larry Tee, and Excision on myspace.

Harvard Bass-ics

One dude I can't seem to play enough of lately is Harvard Bass. I stumbled upon his Beni remix a while ago and it sent me on a hunt for more. His Caked / 81 EP (pictured below) is out now from Sound Pellegrino on Beatport and iTunes. Today I'm featuring two of Bass's remixes as well as a Renaissance Man remix after the jump.

First I'm tossing up his remix of Drop The Lime's "Set Me Free" which leads the way on the Set Me Free (Remixes) release last month.

Next up is another remix released by Sound Pellegrino for Laidback Luke and Gina Turner's latest team up, Nouveau Yorican. The track is called "Boriqua" and Bass delivers a fantastic rework, combining stabbing synths, pounding kicks, and sheer balls to bring your ears joy like christmas day.

Where Were U In 2092?

For anyone who has been reading this blog (probably no one), you might start recognizing a pattern in the artists I post up. Usually they're in the heavier vein, meaning that when played at full volume, you'll most likely offend your co-workers/roommates/parents/girl/boyfriend. The bass tends to be über-present in tracks I post so you'll definitely piss off a few people unless they too enjoy glass/booty shaking, club pounding sounds like you (in this case, please point them in our direction).
So it is with this preface in mind that I bring you SONIC TRUTH, a funky fresh group out of Raleigh, NC. They certainly meet the requirements to be posted on Metal Top Hat, the bass fills my studio when I rock them. These cats have been pumping up crowds for the past year with super fresh bass-filled remixes of hip-hop and electro tracks as well as a few pounding original tracks which I am featuring today.

King Konga is the track that really sold me on Sonic Truth. It's heavy, thudding, powerhouse bass really drives this club hopper and it's catchy hook alludes to these boys having more than just some junk in their trunk (crank up your sub for this one):

Yet another booty shakin' anthem...$hake your ass to another great original tune:

And I've also included 2 top notch remixes. Both of these tracks will knock you on your ass so get ready and pump up the volume:

Simian Mobile Disco

SMD's sophomore release, Temporary Pleasure came out towards the end of the summer and I've slowly but surely been making my way through it. When I first got ADSR, I couldn't take it out of my car stereo and many of my acquaintances grew tired of me constantly singing out, "let's get the rhythm of the hands" and I'm glad to say that the same folks will probably tire of my singing out "why don't I get youuuuuuu".

Anyways, I had the pleasure to meet these fine young Brits recently so I'm glad to post a few tracks up here for all yall to listen to. Enjoy!

And just because I love you, I'm including a nice little minimal remix...

Monday Madness

Don't have much time for a detailed post today sooooooo, here ya go!

Gingy is a Canadian Electro producer who I've been jamming out to a lot lately. Here are a couple of dope remixes, enjoy!

More dope stuff coming this week! Plus, add us on Twitter!

Swedish Skulls

A month or so ago Miike Snow was really blowing up the Hype Machine charts. The Savage Skulls "Black & Blue" remix was by far the stand out track in my opinion and with a Major Lazer remix also in their bag of tricks, these Swedes are definitely a group to keep on your musical radar.

Their Bumps EP is available now on iTunes and Beatport but I'll give you a taste here with the title track Bumps. This track is a dance floor thudder that'll make you jump up and stomp your feet all the way across the bar...maybe you'll even have the courage to talk to that tall blonde drinking Miller Lite...who knows.

And in addition, I'm blessing you with their latest remix, it's of Taio Cruz's, Break Your Heart. It's a dark and fantastic take on the original and keeps to the Skull's dirty dubtastic sound.

Bonus Track:

I've been listening to The Temper Trap full length a lot lately so I got the urge to hunt around for some good remixes. Here's a keeper from UK producer Jakwob, enjoy!

Passion Pit Remixed

I feel like I've been hearing a lot from PASSION PIT lately so I thought I'd throw up a couple of my favorite remixes; one from Jack Beats and the other from Jaymo & Andy George). Their full length debut Manners is available now and if you haven't had a listen, I suggest it. Real fun and punchy stuff...anyways...

As a bonus I'm throwing in the Jaymo & Andy George remix of Miike Snow, enjoy!

Song of the Day

Throwin' it back 10 years people....used to bump this out the back-pack-boom-box in dirty SE PD-X
